I did think about saying Kasabian like the suggestion on the last page, but I think with them playing this year they're unlikely. If they headline T next year then perhaps they'll headline one of the nights at Glasto in 2011?

there would be a backlash if elbow were named as headliners but i think the nearer it got to glastonbury the more supporting voices would emerge. also the ammount of press coverage they would get for being not big enough to headline would boost the bands popularity and if they did a bit of promotional work on the back of it and played a good set (which they are capable of) to a capacity pyramid stage(i believe there is a large percentage of glastonbury who will go to the main stage headliner regardeless and enjoy it) they would become a band big enough to headline glastonbury i think it is almost one of those things you have to do it before you will know
bizarrely after that comment i don't actually like elbow very much . they're not my cup of tea but i do recognise they are a decent band

Pilgrim S, on Nov 9 2009, 02:27 PM, said:Also, Elbow are a lot bigger than people realise. Seldom Seen Kid was a big album. It was in the charts for more than a year. Granted it wasn't often in the top ten, but to still be selling significant numbers for over a year is a huge achievement.
There was some talk of this on the Word podcast the other month, in total it didn't sell that many copies, album sales are down, and you don't need to sell much to get in the charts. I think the total sales for the Seldom Seen Kid are only something like 250,000

I heard the Noel Gallagher/Kasabian rumours and thought it was probably horsecrap. I know he's a big fan and they've supported Oasis but would he really team up with them? Rather a solo career surely?
I also thought Kasabian would be in with a shout but they won't have any new material out before next year and so would have to play mainly the same stuff as this year. Not gonna work surely?

well, from what should be just about the definitive source, it appears that Elbow ain't playing.
Then again, this source has told me porkies (with good reason, you might say it's his job
) in the past (with funnily enough quite similar wording) so the same could be happening again.
There's another way I have of checking this out from a no-less good source (but one that's less likely to tell porkies) so I'll let you know what that brings.
