One born every minute

Latest festi gadget is basically a cut off bottle top with its cap, got two of them for a quid each...the point being they snap on top of cans, so even when your can is open you can keep the contents fizzy and prevent any spillage from them being knocked over

Agreed the site doesn't need a torch in 90% of places.  Having one in the tent was handy though.

No shaking in a dubious way, just clip to lanyard (you get with the pocket sized programme) and let it charge during the day and it is ready for the night.

Also as it is a slider switch, I can switch it on and see where I am, errr... 'going', as opposed to just taking aim in the dark and missing or getting splashback!

The rest is a tad too practical as well.

Hang it up in your tent. Just right for lighting up a 2 man tent, the batteries last me a whole year.

Talc powder for feet.

A car air freshener, also hanging up in tent. Consider this, 1 bloke, 1 tent, 5 days, makes sense.

Silk sleeping bag liner.

I must have brew kit, baileys minis' sort the milk

Solar powered Radio. The festival music station has been a godsend at times, the things I have caught because in the morning I was brewing up, having a strip wash and getting dressed while listening to it!

I have and have used similar in the past, but the Travel Johns are great cos they seal it away and don't smell so you can just dump them in your binbag

I would have taken it home if I had been in the car or something.


I really want to take my iphone but the battery will last less than 2 days And I am not quing to charge it!

This made me laugh out loud at work!
Probably because this WAS ME every morning carrying the 2 Litre bottle of 'Fairy Soft' golden fluid down to the Urinals and tipping it all away.  (Two people's contributions, not just mine!!!)
One morning I did get a very confused and worried look from a stoned looking bloke standing next to me!

The Fabric Cond bottle idea is genius.

I always find a headlight torch useful.  Straps on a band around your head so the light always points the way you are looking.  Very helpful to avoid tripping over guyropes and hunting down things in your tent at night.

Sorry for digging up an old topic, but I reckon this is a gadget which some of you might find genuinely useful at the festivals next year...

A breathalyzer.

I bought one from Maplins for £35.  It's an 'Alcosense Lite.' Since then, I've been on Youtube and looked at a Fifth Gear group test of a few different models - the 'Alcosense Elite' came out as best, having the same accuracy as the ones the police use.  My one is just as accurate, but half the price and with less features.

The reason I bought it was that I recently found myself hungover in London after a party.  I felt like shite, and had no idea whether I'd be legal to drive home.  Having bought the breathalyser and tested myself, it turns out I had absolutely no alcohol left in my system - I just had a headache and was feeling dehydrated.  It was nice to know though - sometimes you can feel like shite for days after a festival, especially the big G, so deciding when you're legal to drive is next to impossible.

I see three main benefits to this:

1.  I won't ever be caught on a public road with alcohol in my system.  I was surprised at how quick my levels dropped down to zero - even after a major night out, I'm back to zero by the time I wake up.  Other people might shed the alcohol more slowly, but until you've tested yourself you don't know.

2.  I won't be so paranoid on the last night of each festival about the drive home.  I'll be able to kick the arse out of a good night, knowing that I'll be able to make sure I'm back to zero before getting in the car the following day.

3.  It's good fun to test yourself while you're out drinking.  Everyone wants a go.  However, my version won't allow you to do any 'see who can get the drunkest' competions - once you're over twice the drink-drive limit it just reads 'Hi' and won't give you a figure.  Presumably that's because of the tales you hear of people giving themselves alcohol poisoning trying to beat their personal best.
