Sorry - not Glasto - but this has really got my goat. I have complained to the PCC, if you feel that strongly - you can do the same

Original article:

An excellent response - better than I could of written

Again - apologies for an "Off Glasto" post

Yup - well done for posting this, Stu.  We've mentioned it over on discussions.

Absolutely disgraceful that someone in her position can get away with writing such offensive drivel.  Another quite alarming thing is the Daily Mail allowing it to be published.

Such bigotry MUST be challenged.

Yeah, I expect it from the Daily Mail and usually I would look the other way. However, I just think a line has been crossed today - thats why I am so angry. I have never been on the PCC website until today.

The Daily Mail is a right wing fascist propaganda rag.  I think everyone knows it and the people that read it either secretly agree and that's why they like it or they're ignorant dim witted buffoons.

I do however agree that the sort of crap they rolled out in that "article" needs to be challenged.  Free speech is one thing, inflammatory bigotry is another.

I have posted on another forum about this.

I am so angry that there is not recourse for this sort of sh!t.

Great Post, needed highlighting.

Things like Gately's death do happen to 'normal' (as the Daily Mail would call them) people.  My sister in law's heart simply stopped in her sleep when she was aged 39.  She was an absolutely straight, happily married mother of two, non-smoker and moderate occasional drinker who'd never taken a recreational drug of any kind in her life.

That's a tragedy.  But if the person who dies is a celeb and gay there has to be an agenda in some people's eyes.

Two weeks ago a friend of my daughters from their schooldays died aged 28 from cancer.  He had been a fit and keen surfer, again straight.  Another tragedy.

Again, had he been a celeb or gay some people would have tried to make out he'd had it coming.

Connections like these should be challenged.

My thoughts went out to his family and friends when I heard of his death and I hope none of them read the Moir article in the link above. My father died suddenly, alone in his garden and although he was 80 the sudden loss was still hard to come to terms with.
It must be especially terrible for his partner who found him as he will be living with so much guilt for not having been at his side (I still have these moments 2 years on).
Journalism of this nature has no place at a time like this.
An apology is needed by the Daily Mail.

Let Stephen RIP x

agreed this is f**king disgraceful, complain to the PCC, but it's not just Moir, vile evil and poisonous though she is, it's the Mail, the editor and their whole culture. Lets have at her, but there's other people, Paul Dacre etc who sanctioned, edited and authorized the publication of this disgusting article.

c**ts, the lot of them.

Truly hateful stuff, even by Daily Mail standards.  And a job well done by Charlie Brooker.  Given the Mail's role in whipping up the Brand/Ross hysteria (which, however you look at it was always at least INTENDED to be humorous) what's the best way of giving them a taste of their own medicine?

Absolutely agree. Whoever let this out of the small minded brain of the writer and in to the public domain is as to blame. Completely disgraceful.

You really shouldn't get quite so upset about such evidenceless prejudiced reactionary bullshit.

Have a look at any drugs company marketing with a cynical eye, and get upset about that.

Or the explanations for politicians expenses/the reaons for this friggin war/why the banks can't afford to sort themselves out.

An article like this will be dismissed by anyone with half a brain.

I like this bit

For once again, under the carapace of glittering, hedonistic celebrity, the ooze of a very different and more dangerous lifestyle has seeped out for all to see.

What did he do any different to most of us ?

You can be hedonistic and work in Asda surely ?

I would like to know what she means by dangerrous lifestyle !
