Radiohead have denied they have given up on making albums, and plan to release a new one on physical formats next year.

Ed O'Brien told NME.COM that the band were set to record the album this winter in Oxfordshire with long-term producer Nigel Godrich. He quashed hints that Thom Yorke made earlier this year that suggested the band may move away from conventional album releases.

The guitarist said that whether the album came out as a download before the physical release or not, it would definitely be available on vinyl and CD. "WE WILL BE MAKING AN ALBUM!" he jokingly outlined. "We love the artwork; that's really important to us, the physicality. And we like vinyl. That's not going to go away."

The guitarist went on to say that he expected the coming season to influence the album recording. "Typical Radiohead," he laughed. "We're going into the studio in winter. It's always miserable! When you're in a studio in the countryside the music you make is definitely affected by what season it is."

Radiohead frontman Yorke has recently been playing solo shows in Los Angeles. O'Brien, meanwhile, has been working with the Featured Artists Coalition on the issue of illegal downloading.

Well this is just bloody brilliant.

Couldn't get a ticket - and now Radiohead are 'likely' to be playing.

As if it couldn't get any worse.

Is this not the usual direction of a RH album?

Isn't a nice feeling.
I know tickets are going on sale again in 2010, but dear god that's a long time to wait....

Don't mean to piss on your chips James, but I'm well excited by this news!  :)   Just been watching the 2003 set they did on YouTube.  Very very good.

Any real truth in the Pulp rumours or is that just hopefull speculation?

Jarvis is on a roll with his solo albums, are there any links suggesting he's even keen on the idea? Didn't catch him last year but i heard he didn't play a single Pulp song.

I'm glad! Eventhough they missed Glasto 2010, we could see them on their own concert soon.

Well, better be on Glasto too!

I would say 'likely' is pushing it at this stage. 'Possible' maybe. The new record means nothing-knowing them, by June they could still be sulking with each other over how many tracks of sampled vocal to overlay on the final 6 bars of track 6 and threatening to break the bad up

Would be funny if the other two headliners were Coldplay and Muse. :)
