Dream choice?  Dark Star Hophead.  Hey - I can dream!!

If it stays hot, session ales are what we'll need.  Tugger is dead right - strong ales and sun really don't mix!
i'd really like a nice IPA really. something tasty, but light

Yeah what the hell happened to the Red Flag bar?  Gutted.  Went into the Cockmill???  a couple of times but got bored waiting to get served.  The Bimble Inn was ok.

Me too, went in twice, hot and gave up waiting to be served, shame. That said, a variety of ales elsewhere, in Bimble, then pub at Avalon had RCH Brewery's Pitchfork, the Kasbah place had Hedgemonkey. Between those and my polypin of Spitfire I "did not go without" :)

What was people's favourite tipple of the weekend then?

I personally found myself whenever in the Park popping down to the Bimble Inn for a lovely pint of Butts' Original, which I found was the best bet for the weekend.

Cornish Ales Tribute was probably the best pint I had.

Good to meet some fellow real ale drinkers such as Langdale Wolf, Stabs and Tugger.  I enjoyed our afternoon out in the sun!

Yeah - good to see you too mate.  It was top.

Very disappointed by the reduced real ale bar in the Acoustic Field, but on the other hand, I felt there was a LOT more variety across the site.  The new bar next to the Avalon Tent was good, the Bimble Inn was as decent as ever, and the Cornish Arms was a nice surprise.

Tugger and I also had a pint of Tribute and I agree that it was the nicest pint I had all weekend.

Aaaaaaand the customary photo of the ale list:

What do the red and green circles next to the prices mean?

Plus, good to see ales served more widely across the site this year.

Green - ales were available.

Red - supped.

This was about 8pm on Sunday night though, which explains why so many appear to have gone!

There was a two page article in pub trade magazine Morning Advertiser last week about St Austall at Glastonbury. Unfortunatly, I am unable to reproduce the digital edition here for you to read.
So here are a couple of bits from it:

Sold: Tribute & Propor Job 10800 pints, Gaymers 11352 pints, Tuborg 8800 pints.

To Do Next Time:
Change the layout so that one section of the bar is facing the street to attract passing trade.
Get a DJ or Cornish comedian in the evenings so people have a reason to come along.
Get some outdoor furniture and pray for sunshine. (This year the firm were told they were not permitted to have an outdoor trading space but were dismayed to find some of it's competitors did have some.)
Placing some ads, they didn't this year because of cost.
They invested in 3000 Tribute waterproof ponchos which can be used next year.
They ran out of change within 2 hours on the first day despite bringin £3000 for the whole weekend.
There was a high demand for Cornish cider. They will look into Cornish Rattler. (May not be allowed due to Gaymers contract.)

Just started working for a major brewery and news is good for festy real ale goodness. We've developed a method of delivering cask ale to remote places for instant pouring (doesn't need to sit for 3 weeks in a cellar) and if disturbed, the yeast will sink to the bottom almost instantly, so no cloudy pints when someones knocked over a barrel.

We've got the rights to a few festivals this year, so expect to see more real ale at festivals next year aswel!

They had Bath Ales' Barnstormer and I missed it!!

Did anyone try the local Glastonbury Ale (got a pint from the bar up in Park area)? 'Twas a refereshingly light ale for the intense sun at the time. Made a change from my homebrew which, I have to say, was a poor choice for this year given that it was a Porter (based on Woodfordes 'Nog').

Otter Amber and Pilton Pop were my fave's.  Sorry to not crack on with the ale meet.  Needed medical help after the World Cup due to broken fingers.

Anyone know if the St Austell beer tent will be back again this year?
