Some of them are part of the entertainment (ala trash city), some of them have been going for years and therefore probably get let in by their old pal Michael. But yeah, I've often thought the same. I guess it just comes down to the fact that old skool hippies generally get what they want, one way or another

I know, I did think about editing but hoped it made sense. I didn't mean they are part of it unintentionally!! Lol. I meant as in, they are involved in the runnings of the festival......people like angel gardens etc.

Maybe they're all employed by the organisers, paid to dress as hippies, and sell job lots of pseudo-ethnic goods made in a warehouse in Milton Keynes...

c'mon even the hippies of the 60/70s were all really just posh kids who went to uni and decided to rebel against there parents (because they suddenly realised no one liked them because they were too posH)

they're only hippies when it suits them!

Most have a connection of some sort or mates that will help them out.  A lot work and the rest are part of the green fields, Trash city.

However they are diminishing at a rapid rate for some of the smaller festivals as the cost is becoming prohibitive as is the commercialisation of the festival it would seem.

I think this may be my last this year, still looking forward to it immensely, but I am not sure I want to see it deteriorate any further down a path I don't like.

I owe Glastonbury festival a alot and would like to remember it for what it was not what its become.  :)

Also I am as blind as a bat and its a F8ck off big site to get muttered and lost at!    :(

Yeah, hippies aren't (necessarily) penniless. £180 is a lot of money, but as we all know, if you make Glastonbury a priority, you can find it.  And the Internet is full of hippies. The first web directory (The Whole Internet Catalog) grew from the Whole Earth Catalog. And those particular hippies are very wealthy.

Meanwhile, I think everyone in the Healing Fields and the Green Crafts field etc. are crew.
