So, for those of us unlucky enough not to get tickets, what alternative festivals would people recommend? I've only ever done Glastonbury! While seeing bands is lovely, I do like a wide range of stuff - especially seeing comedians, so I'm thinking maybe Latitude. Any good?

The Big Chill had quite a few comedians on last year, and was a great medium sized festival (40,000) with lots going on besides the bands. It's first weekend in August, and normally has beautiful weather.

Sonar or Exit for me and the missus as we can never afford to go with Glastonbury stuck right in between them.

Latitude is great.... but very very different to Glasters. Quite sedate, middle class and lots of buggies! However, the parties in the woods after hours are brilliant, and the sheep are pink.

I'll be 32 by next year, so I might fit in with the chattering classes
Cheers for all the suggestions guys - I think Latitude and Bestival are top of my list so far!

depends what your favourite things about glasto are.
Latitude is chilled out, has a really good line up and lots of comedy poetry etc but doesn't go on late into the night. so if you want a dance its not the best place to go.

The only problem with Bestival is that it's a long wait, being as it's in September.

the weather is usually good come september though so there is that. (except 2008)

And it's sponsored by the very un-Glasto Nestle.

I wouldn't write off getting a ticket for glastonbury yet though if you didn't get one, there will be resales.
