They pay the council to shut the road in (A64) now , i had no wait what so ever.

I got there at 4pm on the thursday.

Ive only been to V and Leeds, IMO i would say leeds is better at everything other than been about £20 more expensive. Mind you do get a extra day.

Just would like people who all ways go to V, to try leeds u will never go back.

Maybe once to see how poor it is.

I'm with you completely I've been to V last 3 years and I went to Leeds aswell this year the first thing I did when I got back was buy my Leeds 2010 ticket it's so much better than V  the people, the atmosphere, the music, the fact that at v theres only 1 disco on friday and it finishes at 11 where as leeds carries on late

All in all Leeds was brilliant and I cant wait until next year V on the other hand i'm gonna wait for the line-up

V is a bit blergh for me.  Went in 03 for Foos + RHCP, 04 because it was the only way I could see Pixies, and 06 because it was the only way I could see Radiohead.  I don't know what it is about V that sucks, it just doesn't seem to do anything particularly well and the atmosphere is stagnant.  It doesn't have a buzz about it.  I'd go again if a band I had to see was playing and there's no other way I could see them that year, but otherwise, nah.  To be honest I haven't even checked the lineup for the last 2 years, so it's got a tough job selling it to me.  But it sells out regardless so my opinion is null and void really.

The thing is opinions are like arseholes everyone has one.
So in my opinon I prefer Leeds but V will always be in my mind as my first real live music experience and the first time I saw Foo's.
Glastonbury just doesn't sound appeaing to me at all, too preachy with all the recycling and shit plus we have a mini glasto here it's called treefest it's lame and full of hippies

I have been to Glastonbury three times so I wasnt expecting V to live up to it...and it didnt. It was a good festival to go to with my sister who had never been to a festival before (e.g the amount of days and the commerical atmosphere). I have no strong desire to go again

yes V is overpriced, debatable decline in lineup over the years and badly organised but you know for those couple of days I attend V in August I have the bestest time as it really is what u make of it and I have had fantastic company for last 2  :P
Roll on next year ........

PS. yes been to Leeds twice and am going to Glasto next year, but still think V will be included in yearly gigging as short festie which alot of people like (not everyone is hardcore u know!!)

Never been preached at in Glastonbury and the recycling thing isn't difficult. At most festivals there will be a bin for everything. At Glastonbury there are three oil drums with different coloured tops, if you find that difficult I suggest adult night classes :P

As to V being the worst festival, depends. My friend went and said it's not great but it doesn't pretend to be. It is what it is, plastic but he expected that and still had a good time. If you go expecting it to be the greatest gig in a field ever then you may be dissapointed.

Havent been on here for 18 months but the first thing I see is him banging on about Leeds - AGAIN.

You have your own taste, and hopefully your own mind. Decide for yourselves people!!! Visit a few over the years and then you will know what YOU think.

Just be positive .............. and enjoy them ............. and dont stop going

I've been to V 7 time's and am quickly formulating plans to go next year as well.

I've got a ticket to Glastonbury 2010 which will be my first time there and I'm sure it will blow me away as it is the mother of all festival's, but I am still going to go to V as I have never had a bad time there.

It's over priced and it's very commercial, but every person I have met there has always been there to have fun.  I've never seen a fight and only ever heard of 1 person being robbed and that was 3 or 4 years back.  I've made good friends at the festival and we have met up again in following years to camp together.

V may not be as good as Glasto but it doesn't make it bad.  It make's it different.  What really confuses me is why would someone start a thread in the V forum slating the festival?  Surely if you didn't like it that much you wouldn't be going so why even look at the forum?

If you can call it a festival , at all. Get yourself to Leeds is much better.
Hmmm, this is a bit like saying "Nescafe, if you can call it coffee, is shit, use Maxwell House instead"...

Brilliant!! Really?!?!

Heard it's a place for 15yr olds to drink cheap cider and smoke cheap stuff, then when there bored they burn tents, bin, toilets and blow up sh1t.

Sounds really good  :P

As has been said opinions are diverse - but if you've never been to Glasto you can hardly be an expert on it? Glasto is an experience which is hard to describe, you could miss all the major acts and still have an amazing time and get value for money which is unheard of in most places - but if it rains you will probably be miserable for a bit.

As for the whole green preachy bit it isn't and as said its not a hippy recycling event - go you might surprise yourself.

For the right lineup I could be persuaded to Glasto but at the minute U2 is a very bad start for me

I've been to V twice before, in 2006 and 2008.  I went to Glastonbury last year and it was much better than V.

This year I am doing Download and for me musically it will be better than both

You doing V this year as well Squall or just Download (me too Them Crooked Vultures and AC/DC sold me straight away)?

The thing with V is people bash it, but it is a very easy festival with a fair bit of variety in acts (hence why people say its for people who don't like festivals, which is b*lls**t really, if you don't like festivals V can be too much - its radio friendly), I mean Glasto is the greatest festival ever, but you can never take in everything, you can get lost in all the little events and miss things you wanted to see and getting back to the car for something is a pain. Also the nature of Glasto means it sells out very quickly. Leeds less so than Reading still has its 'riots' which are normally the pumped up teenagers on their first adventure away from home and it can get tedious - especially when you have to help your tent neighbour rebuild her tent the next morning because the drunks flattened it.
Download is awesome if you like hard rock / metal (which I do) but its all it really caters for so unless all your mates are into it then that rules them out and Donington is bad enough to get out of on race day with a motorbike let alone in a car with 110,000 people bleary eyed from some thrash the night before.

So V fills a pretty good role, its central and it plays enough stuff to keep most people happy, it isn't fantastic but it doesn't say it is, yep its expensive but you can bring most of the expensive stuff with you (or smuggle it in) - and its the only festival I can guarantee getting at least a dozen of my mates to go to with their varied musical tastes.
