I hope all of you who went to Bloodstock this year had a good time.
Booking for BOA 2010 is well underway, with 4 bands currently announced;

The Bloodstock team are pleased to announce that guitar legend and former Manowar axeman ROSS THE BOSS will be added to the bill for next year’s Bloodstock Open Air Festival .
Born Ross Friedman, Ross The Boss got his first break with New York proto-punk band The Dictators, whom he joined in 1973. After recording three seminal albums, the band split in 1979 but Ross soon met bassist Joey DeMaio with whom he formed Manowar in 1980. Manowar recorded a total of six albums with Ross The Boss, beginning with their 1982 debut Battle Hymns and running right through to 1988’s Kings Of Metal. Fans generally regard this period as the best in the band’s history.
In the years following his departure from Manowar, Ross has performed with a wide variety of other bands, including the reformed Dictators and the Brain Surgeons who also feature former Blue Öyster Cult drummer Albert Bouchard.
In April 2006 he performed what was intended to be a one-off set of early Manowar tracks at Germany’s Keep It True Festival, backed by German Manowar covers band Men Of War. However, such was its success that this line-up went on to play further European festivals and eventually began working on new original material. In August 2008, they released their debut effort New Metal Leader, a full-on return for Ross The Boss to the pure heavy metal sound with which he made his name.

ROSS THE BOSS – Death & Glory - BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2010

The Bloodstock team are pleased to announce that German metallers RAGE have been added to the bill for Bloodstock Open Air 2010.
Rage formed in 1984 as Avenger, releasing an album and EP before switching moniker for 1986’s Reign Of Fear. The band’s sound in their early days placed them at the heart of the burgeoning European thrash/speed metal scene, but as the turn of the decade approached, their music started to become more complex and refined, shifting away from speed metal and towards more melodic and progressively-influenced territory. The changes which were already evident on 1988’s Perfect Man continued throughout the 90s and included 1996’s Lingua Mortis, which saw the band record with an orchestra. Tours with Running Wild, U.D.O., Motörhead and Saxon brought the band greater international recognition and they have gone on to enjoy consistent success at home and abroad while many of their former contemporaries have fallen victim to changing fashions and musical fads. Despite numerous line-up changes, under the guidance of mainman Peavy Wagner, Rage have continued to produce intense and intelligent metal of the highest calibre, as witnessed on their latest album, 2008’s Cast In Stone.

RAGE – Gib Dich Nie Auf - BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2010.

The Bloodstock team are pleased to announce that death metal legends OBITUARY have been added to the bill for Bloodstock Open Air 2010.
Formed in Tampa, Florida in 1985, Obituary are one of the originators of death metal and central to the so-called ‘Florida scene’ which also included pioneering bands such as Morbid Angel and Deicide. Originally called Xecutioner, the band changed their name just prior to the release of their debut album, 1989’s Slowly We Rot. The album’s striking blend of brutally-fast and slow, sludgy riffs is highly distinctive and coupled with vocalist John Tardy’s extremely guttural style, has defined their sound throughout their career. The follow-up effort, 1991’s Cause of Death, is considered a landmark in death metal history, and the band successfully continued with both The End Complete (1992) and World Demise (1994) making them one of the best-selling acts in the genre.
Following 1997’s Back From the Dead, exhausted from years of touring, the band went their separate ways and concentrated on other projects. Drummer Donald Tardy – brother of vocalist John - played in Andrew W.K.'s touring band, lead guitarist Allen West (now no longer with the band) worked in Lowbrow and Six Feet Under while rhythm guitarist Trevor Peres formed Catastrophic in 2001 and released an album, The Cleansing, that same year.
Rested and revitalised, Obituary reformed in 2003, and after a series of well-received live dates, issued their comeback album Frozen in Time in 2005. Since then, they’ve issued two further critically-acclaimed albums – 2007’s Xecutioner's Return and this year’s Darkest Day – and continued to reassert their position as one of the most iconic death metal bands of all time.
