I think they're too full of themselves these days. When they perform live now, it's like they cant be bothered.

Hmmm, sense a bit of a snide put down there for those who actually think KOL are a bit over exposed shit really, however think you'll find that 'most popular' title probably belongs to Take That at the mo.

I loved Aha Shake Heartbreak, thought it was an amazing album. Really rough and ready rock and roll, not like the shit music you get nowadays. But unfortunately since they've released Only by the night they have become so arrogant and up their own arses. Sex on fire is an absolutely terrible record, so is Use Somebody. They now think they are the biggest band in the world, even after their redding performance they were going on about how they were "The f**king Kings" as if everyone should bow down to them as gods. I don't think all mainstream bands are rubbish at all, I'm into Coldplay, Radiohead, Muse and The Killers. I just think Kings of Leon are very overwhelmed with their sucsess in the UK and don't know how to deal with it properly because they are too young to be this sucsesfull already (if you know what I mean)
Cheers,

That's what the quotes said yeh, but if you actually listen he didn't say that or sound arrogant at all. Just disappointed.
For the record I think the newest album is their worst, Sex On Fire is a brilliant song though.

Thought it was class in fairness. They started with Crawl, played Molly's Chambers, Fans, Bucket, Pistol, Kicks etc etc what wasnt to like??? Lead singer necking double shots of Jack all night long. Mega.
Granted since then theyve become overexposed to hell but that show seemed triumphant in a way. Sound was fantastic and the gothic choral music they came onstage to was SUPERB.
Let the naysayers say nay all they want. KoL nailed their headliner show at Glasto. Everything since then is debatable, but they did great on the night.
Bang on.............
Was a great gig IMO
Saw them this summer as well and was not feeling it at all. As soon as they played Sex on Fire I left............
Albums 1 et 2 are great. 3 has a few cracks (but really like Knocked up, Fans and On Call) with album 4 having more so...........
Sex on Fire and Use Somebody make skin CRAWL when I hear them on the radio and I swiftly flick
They have got to take a break and get back to basics..............or even take a massive experimental risk that could destroy them or make them true legends.............

do people really say they don't like a band simply to be cool??... how odd

They were pretty good, but a letdown to me personally. Only because I expected more of a 'performance', and not because I could fault them musically. I still believe they are an exceptional band and I do wonder if they are so derided because the last album crossed over to a much wider audience.
I'm not saying this is what is happening on this forum, but the less well known the band, the 'cooler' they seem to be. I remember my pal getting pissed off when Nirvana went massive during 'Nevermind' fame. They were no longer as good in his eyes because everyone liked them. It's an odd phenomenon.
But in truth, their last album was their weakest, but still a lot better than numerous other stuff out there.

The fact they've made the Heart FM and Galaxy main play list is testament to how commercial, safe and boring they have become, just another generic pop/rock act going through the motions

I generally agree with most people here and think they are another identikit band. Their songs could have be written and performed by 10 other bands and no one would know. I was very disappointed by their performance at Glasto but that is the only time I've seen them play.

To be honest, Only By The Night is still a pretty good album, probably my least favourite of theirs though.
Aha Shake Heartbreak is one of the best of this decade IMO.

My uncle who saw them told me they weren't too great.
Clearly thats your opinion myself and friends thought KoL were ace at leeds and that was my seventh time of seeing them

It's good, but I prefer the first one. It had that kind of raw southern sound that draws me like a moth to a fly. For me it's a natural progression from Dylan's Basement Tapes, through Exile on Maine Street, Allman Bros Band via early Skynyrd.
I thought they did okay at Glasto. Seemed a bit lost, nervous to begin with, and got better as they went on. They were better when I saw them a few months later in Brighton.

I've seen em twice, 1st time on the Because Of The Times tour which is still one of the best gigs i've been to & then on the last album tour & it was just nowhere near as good. I sure they do but they come across now a bit like they do care or give as much on stage as they used to.
Remember watchin the Glasto set on tv & just bein disgusted in myself that i never went that year
