After seeing quite a few negative reports about their headline shows at Reading and Leeds this year (and witnessing a dissapointing show at Leeds) I was wondering how they fared last year at Glasto at what was, correct me if I'm wrong, their first ever UK festival headline appearence?

My uncle who saw them told me they weren't too great.

Only caught the stqrt of their set at Leeds so I can't really compare! Fromthe back aswell couldn't get even close! Went to see billy talent instead who were brilliant so good decision I think!

I saw them at T In The Park and didn't think they were that bad, but I see how people who had perhaps seen them before would find them a  bit boring. Some of their songs were quite eerie out in the dark of a field  which quite cool.

I like the first album. They are production line radio rock now though. Total shite.

I think they are one of the most boring live bands that exist.

Why anyone would choose KOL over Jimmy Cliff is beyond me.  Unfortunately since they headlined Glastonbury they became 'massive' and managed to bore the crowd at Reading to death as well.

I saw them play Glasto alright, yeah.

Thought it was class in fairness. They started with Crawl, played Molly's Chambers, Fans, Bucket, Pistol, Kicks etc etc what wasnt to like??? Lead singer necking double shots of Jack all night long. Mega.

Granted since then theyve become overexposed to hell but that show seemed triumphant in a way. Sound was fantastic and the gothic choral music they came onstage to was SUPERB.

Let the naysayers say nay all they want. KoL nailed their headliner show at Glasto. Everything since then is debatable, but they did great on the night.

Agree, their 1st album was immense, a refreshing retro Skynyrd Southern boogie, down and dirty rock and roll.

Now they are just a production line bringing out a new album every 18 months or so and the lead singers voice has become more and more irritating as the as the top 40 hits get churned out.

They are now sanitised chart friendly T4 type rock and roll for the masses and would probably do a nice double header with McFly.

Oh come on the last album was not that bad, it was a bit more commercial but more people liked it. I am glad they brought out the last album otherwise they wouldn't have had the sucess they did and I wouldn't have heard their other albums. I don't think you can really say they have suddenly become the T4 type on par with McFly.

The first and second albums, as corrected by Wooderson, were very good southern rock/pop. The last two, particularly the last album, is total shite. Sex on Fire is awful stuff. Awful, awful stuff. Coldplay with more guitars.

I was disappointed to be honest. Thought they were pretty uninspiring, though they can certainly play and do sound good live, for me they lack spark.

Someone said workman-like, that's a good description.

I agree too that they've become over exposed and as such my view may be clouded by that

It is total garbage, youre 100% right. First two records were slick-as though.

The videos on Youtube of the set look pretty good. They seem to have just got on with it and let the music do the talking. It's a shame they became so over exposed and famous after headlining Glastonbury/T last year because not it seems like it's "cool" to like them.

which wouldn't be so bad if the music was at all interesting. They seem to be disappearing up their arse a bit lately.. all that crap about it being a 'bad' audience at Reading because they didn't go down a storm...
it couldn't be anything to do with you, could it??

Think KoL are getting a bit of a bad rap here.  Didn't see them at Glasto but have seen them before and whilst they don't exactly electrify with their stage antics or interact too well with the crowd, they can bloody well play and are clearly well into their music.

Agree it's tailed off after Aha, Shake... and that the current album is more mainstream, but it's still good IMO.
