using this thread to talk about my first festival experience at nearly 40 yrs old!! Found out about this one through Mumford and Sons who I think are and were superb and will be big. Became even more excited when I and my 11 yr old son saw that Okkervil River were playing our fave band by miles(cool 11 yr old!!).
Anyway, loved the weekend, loved the music, the atmosphere, the people, the food and the hot cider with Brandy!!

To get to the point tho, top 3 bands were:(surprisingly)
1. Okkervil River - fantastic show and could and should have done more
2. Mumford and Sons - great but short opening show on Friday.
3.The Leisure Society/Herman Dune/The Duke and the King/Vetiver/The Low Anthem/Shearwater( is that cheating??!!)

Also despite the mixed reviews I thought that the Fleet Foxes were excellent. Great set, banter and performance.

Just paid for next years!!

Cheers.

The Duke and the King (Big top)

The Duke and the King (Tipi)

Motel Motel.

Low Anthem might have made 3 but I heard them in cafe dish while drinking lemon and ginger tea in an effort to revive myself rather than seeing them.

About 1.00 am (?) same/next day they played the Big Top. You sound nearly as annoyed as I am that I missed Okkervil's secret set around the piano in the woods!! Though I was fortunate enough to see Motel Motel play a stunning set in the Tipi, also about 12 hours after they had done the Big Top.

My top 3 (probably):

Okkervil River
David Thomas Broughton
First Aid Kit

The Hold Steady - I don't care what anyone says, riffs, rock and Super Mario on keys makes me happy.
The Low Anthem - Wonderful, basically.
Leisure Society - Twee, but brill.

I gave FF a mention, for which I got told off for breaching forum etiquette and cheating in the pol!! I thought they were excellent, just the others were even better.
