I'd go with that, pretty much, I think a lot of whether he'll become proper massive depends on how chameleon-like he is in his approach, stuff like 'dance wiv me' and 'bonkers' are world away from 'boy in da corner', and I suspect he's going to continue down that road, becoming more mainstream. It's interesting, cos a lot of bands start out conventionally and then become more experimental as they get more successful and have the freedom do do so, whereas he's taken the opposite approach, becoming far more radio friendly as he's gone on.

In fairness a lot of acts take a similar path- two of my favourite bands, Kings of Leon and Biffy Clyro, have gone much more mainstream in their most recent albums, which is normally great if you didn't know them before (like dizzee for me), but often really annoying if you were already a fan. Then you get the whole "I knew them from the start" rubbish, which I really, really hate (but of course I say, cuz you have to).

I've no idea if the act he says he'd booked was there or not. However, I don't believe that he 'booked' the act with the act but with their representative. Most of the time it's a waste of time speaking to any act directly, as they don't have a clue what they have lined up as such things are handled for them by their manager(s).

So guess all you like over acts that were there, the chances are you might be leading yourself up the garden path.

I am quite pally with The Cribs (although do not see much of em now ) , you are right Neil about
artists.  A few years ago chatting to their drummer Ross I know more about what they were doing
festival wise then he did.  I remember he said this to me

"Our manager has sorted out us to play  a gigl in Leeds with the Kaiser Chiefs , know much about it ? ! "

It was the 02 Wireless Festival at Harweood House , but got the impression he had been told nothing about it by his manager.
