No doubt this has been discussed a few times before, but I've notice Foo Fighters and Bob Dylan have been added to the rumors section for the Pyramid Stage at Glasto 2010 on Efestivals, and I was wondering where they came from. Both suit Glasto but aren't the Foos on hiatus, and would Dylan headline? I wouldn't question the latter if he hadn't played a non-headline slot at Glasto before, although he could easily headline.

Also, Dizzee Rascal as a strong rumour for the Other Stage?

Michael talked about the Foos and Dylan when giving a talk somewhere earlier this year. But as it was before this year's fest, they're there mainly cos of him talking about them rather than them being things I expect to necessarily happen.  If they do turn out correct, I very much doubt Dylan would headline, as he didn't previously.

The Dizzee is as someone has already said - bands that play PP generally get a better slot than they probably would otherwise at the following fest. But sometimes they don't even appear at the next fest, so it's not 100% certain.

I'm pretty sure that the Foos break is going to end by the end of the year if not sooner - TCV is temporary thing.

Ah could be Foos though; they have a greatest hits album coming out at the beginning of November which has two new tracks on i think. http://www.amazon.co...-...186&sr=8-16

I know that enquiries have been made by Glasto about the Foos, tho that was a couple of years back and couldn't happen cos of their planned break.

However, when Michael spoke of them earlier this year, he was asking whether those he was speaking to thought them suitable to headline, so it sounds as tho Michael isn't (or at least wasn't) convinced they were the right sort of act to have.

I suspect that nothing will come of it, tho probably more to do with the fact that after their break they'll be able to command huge fees for their first shows rather than Glasto not wanting them or the Foos not wanting to do Glastonbury. Then again, if they have a greatest hits to promote, Glastonbury would give them by far the best promotion so you never know.

Didn't the other lot (VFestivals) indicate back in Feb that ME had already booked the Friday headliner?

For my money that would be either the Foos or Muse...ooh look that rhymes!!!

Anyways either of those would make the festival for me.With a bit of luck both of them,(fingers crossed).

Michael told the press in general (but not specifically those you name, who weren't even there) that he'd booked an act to headline 2010 at the nme awards back in February time, with that act supposedly having been booked that night.

However, while Michael might think they're signed and sealed, I'd guess that things were and probably still are a lot less solid than he'd indicated, on just the time lag between then and the 2010 festival if nothing else. It's often - nearly always - the case that verbal agreements made in a casual setting a long time in advance never come to fruition.

I believe that I know the name of the act he said he'd booked, and am doing some digging around it without any luck so far. If it is the act I'm thinking then there's other very good reasons why it's likely to not be the firm thing Michael suggested it was. I'm keeping this schum for the moment, at least until after tickets have gone on sale - I don't want to be responsible increasing the interest in tickets at the first chance to buy via mention of this name when it's quite possible that nothing will come of it.

So they were there then? The Cure? They won an award.

Was Robert Plant at those awards?

Edit - Just did some research. Radiohead were there that night. As were Coldplay.

Its Radiohead Neil isnt it? Eavis wouldnt have to wait until an award show to book Coldplay, he has Tit Martin on speed dial.

So there you go everyone, Radiohead to headline Glasto 2010.

I've no idea if the act he says he'd booked was there or not. However, I don't believe that he 'booked' the act with the act but with their representative. Most of the time it's a waste of time speaking to any act directly, as they don't have a clue what they have lined up as such things are handled for them by their manager(s).

So guess all you like over acts that were there, the chances are you might be leading yourself up the garden path.

having seen "that shitbag rascal" () share a stage with a particular hugely rated act recently and be a thousand notches worse than him, I'm 100% certain that very many acts that many people like to regard as "fantastic" are far more shitty than Dizzee.

Let's face it, based on this years performance and the progression he's made through the festival Dizzee deserves and is big enough and entertaining enough to warrant the Other Stage headline slot. And I think he'll get it. ( like I got tickets for Them Crooked Vultures!)
