Dragknuckles...Turin Brakes would be wonderful ....The Divine Comedy would be divine.... But The Duke & The King to headline would be sublime who cares where they are from. "In music the passions enjoy themselves"

I'd much rather have all the Felice brothers there rather than just one of them.

I am a fan...although saw them at Latitude last year and they did not blow me away...however...I think if they stuck to PLANS and a few others they could be great on the Garden Stage.

...if we get shot down, we get shot down together  ;)

I'd go and see Death Cab for Cutie......

......any band named after a Bonzo's song is fine by me :P

PS I like their music too  :)

YES. the official DCFC Play the Garden on Saturday Night petition has begun. Thanks for the support Knuckles and Elfy. And Swindlebiscuit - we're all from the Matrix...you'd never hit us with mere bullets...

If Death Cab had more songs like I Will Possess Your Heart, I'd probably like them a lot more. But otherwise I'd probably leave after hearing that song

Guillemots maybe with a third album by then

Turin Brakes would indeed be a good call

Patrick Wolf?????

But all of these could really be second on the bill, to Eels, The National and The Polyphonic Spree respectively of course.

(it's not like I want much  ;) )

I love Eels on some tours, but not others. The With Strings tour was good, but the rocking one that followed didn't get me at all. The Evening With Eels tour last year was perfect. Never thought I'd hear Elizabeth on the Bathroom Floor (and plenty of others from E-SB) until then.

Also, The National YES PLEASE.

Personally I'd have liked to have seen more British bands purely because I like it when I can follow bands which is a bit difficult with those based overseas.  Having said that I've just posted a wish list for 2010 and there's quite a few Americans in it.

I wonder whether it's the UK not producing as much music to my taste as once upon a time or is it just that the media in general has developed a predilection for American bands.

DCFC would be excellent but sign up The Postal Service too and make a weekend out of it  :)

Joanna Newsom would be amazing. So suited for her

Simon and Sofia happen to like Americana, and book bands they like.  If you want a festival based around English bands I suggest you look elsewhere.

Yeah. I also dislike the tweeness of the British accent in music - see Noah and the Whale... vomit. Thought that the lineup this year was amazing - Neko Case was a good choice!!

One british band that could headline and would fit..........The Waterboys.

Mind I did hear a while back that they tended to price themselves out of many festivals reach, think Mike Scott might feel differently though if he knew what the festival was like.

If you all spent more time at the Cider Bus you wouldn't care about the Nationality of the bands. I personally just want to listen to them - not check their passports.
By the way, there's a great Afghan bluegrass ensemble just waiting to get onto next years billing. 'Country & Eastern' it might catch on. :P

A British Band that would work well at EOTR would be The Bookhouse Boys . . .

It was the Scandi & US / Canadian stuff that bought me to EOTR, I can count the UK bands I like / would fork out for on one hand I agree with the NME by numbers approach to a lot of UK independant bands - so many of them are interchangeable and downright boring.

I don't usually get involved with discussions on fan boards because as an artist I can make myself look like a fool but your response is absolutely infuriating. The NME by numbers approach of a lot of UK independent bands is because that's the only music the venues will put on, that's the only music the radio stations will play, that's the only music labels (independent or otherwise) will sign.

I play in an alt-country band. We're very good. Unless you're into alt-country and go to What's Cookin you haven't heard of us. Why? Because The Jawbone Band isn't NME by numbers. We're good enough to be opening for Chuck Berry for 4 nights on his UK tour in a couple of weeks. We're good enough that it looks like we're about to be signed. But we're not NME by numbers so I doubt we'll get the chance to play enough gigs / festivals to build our following.

We've released our own EP (on iTunes hopefully by the time the tour starts), it's all looking up and we'd love to play EOTR but because UK alt-country bands struggle to break through, everyone thinks alt-country = American and Scandinavian.
