I'm a bit worried that this forum is becoming a bit "let's bash a band" and make someone feel bad because they like something someone else does not...

...are we not better than that?

...I hope so.

the festival was perfect theres a few moans on here about the tipi tent and the sound which im sure will be sorted for next year but to be honest apart from sam bakers set i dont think it intruded that badly. someones asked if any1 was bothered about the horrors and to be honest no if you look over the line they stand out like a sore thumb they played bestival the day before (alright something might of gone down between then) and to top it off it buggered up people who wanted to see fleet foxes as as much as i hate to say it they probably would have pulled a crowd which would have eased the crowd capacity in the garden for fleet foxes

it intruded enough on charlie parr that he stopped playing and was planning a second half to the set after the next band in the local had finished (although we didn't make it back to see it).

Well I certainly wanted to see them, I reckon they might have not pulled out if they hadn't been programmed at the same time as fleet foxes. I had a really good time watching FF though, but I was still disappointed.

This said it's true given the kind of music that people at EOTR like (and given the nice comments), maybe it wasn't the best festival for them to play at.

We didn't give a crap though there were a lot of groans when they mentioned it on the Garden Stage.

I would have been quite interested to catch a bit of their set if Fleet Foxes hadn't clicked with me. I really like the new album.

As much as I love all the music that EotR put on, a little bit of variety goes a long way. The Horrors would have been that variety and could well have worked . I think it was a shame that had to pull out, but it didn't affect my festival.

I don't know really, it could be anything, that, an ego problem, or an actual accident/problem

at the end of the day it's just empty speculation but I still think it would have been cool to see them!

I was quite pleased that they pulled out, but only because it meant that there was Efterklang were put on later/with a longer gap beforehand, so that we could easily get to the very front in advance, and they got to play a slightly longer set. So that was good for me. Although it's never good if a band you want to see pulls out at the last minute. Was disappointed at no set by The Mummers, as I was interested in seeing them. It meant I got to see Ian Archer instead, although busy Tipi meant I didn't stay too long for him anyhow.

I agreee that its a pity to knock bands on here.... my daughter wanted to see the Horrors, and it was quite exciting that Fleet Foxes was almost a crush at the front (it kept us warmer) No one could understand why Blitzen Trapper (who everyone seemed to be talking about) were in the Tipi Tent and not moved to the Horrors slot. I am never gonna like every single thing at EOTR but one of the things that I love about EOTRoaders is that it seems to be a bunch of fairly tolerant and open-minded people and thats what makes it such a wonderful place to be!!!
