I'd almost forgotten about the Leisure Society. They originally came onto the radar early in the year as they were mentioned in the Times as being by appointment to Guy Garvey. Well if it was good enough for the Acorn....

Just thought I'd use this thread for an entirely self-indulgent bump to say that:
'WE USED TO THINK THE FREEWAY SOUNDED LIKE A RIVER' IS A BLOODY FANTASTIC RECORD!!!!
I have become mildly RF obsessed since being blown away by them at the festival and the whole of this album is just terrific.
Sorry, just needed to share
Ben

Very true indeed.
I think The Fitzgerald is still my favourite though.

Sorry now even the mention of it makes me blub...a blubbering muppet! Although my ex-nextdoor neighbour is right. They were excellent live, but then I felt the music and it moved me !!!! How many more albums have they done?
He said when he was sober he didnt know nuthin at all, and doesnt remember buying all those cds with the credit card!

They've made quite a few albums, Sue
'Post to Wire' is considered their seminal record by many and it is fabulous, but then of course many love 'The Fitzgerald'. There's also:
- '$87 And A Guilty Conscience That Gets Worse The Longer I Go' (great title)
- ' Winnemucca' (early)
- 'Thirteen Cities'
- 'Live at the Doug Fir Lounge' and one or two more including a re-recording of some earlier stuff.
So a pretty decent back catalogue.
Listening to 'Post to Wire' now whilst finishing mowing the grass! 40 tomorrow...bugger
