A mate of mine got his beers taken off him , he smuggled em in , then proceeded to pull them
out of his wellies about 6 foot from the main entrance.

Talk about shooting fish in a barrell !

:P

Saw loads of people last year doing that  :P  Which was why the area just inside the gates was crawling with security, silly people  ;)

I've been going since '05 and that was the only year that I saw riots.  Seriously.  There is stupidity on the Sunday night, but there haven't been riots since Stuart Security were sacked.

I've camped in Red, Green and Brown and only had a problem once in Red when some idiots made a big bonfire and were burning all kinds of horrible stuff, the air was thick of toxic smoke  :P   Green and Brown are alright, never had any bother there, although the campsite disco was pretty loud which kind of buggered their 'quiet' Brown camp unless you didn't want to sleep before 5am.  Still, earplugs in and I was quite happy drifting in and out of a doze while hearing some pretty good choons, and it kept the party people happy :o

Quick question, does everyone get searched at the gates? and what are the alcohol restrictions, i.e. will they be bothered about under 18s taking it? thanks (: x

I've heard of under 18s getting IDd with booze at the gate but unless you look about 12 you should be ok.

this is my first time at leeds and first festival, my only question is that is the best campsite to go in, where there are no 'riots' but still a good atmosphere?

Blue was good last year, my best advice would be camp near a fire tower, we did last year and had no bother at all. It means if anyone is acting like a c**t they'll get spotted quickly.

it was packed at the gate i was at last year so they didn't really check properly, as long as you don't take glass bottles you'll be fine.
saying that, my mate took loads of glass bottles but they let her off cos she looked 'innocent' haha

Ok, got another question. Got tickets and everything, happy with plans for camping but having a bit of trouble finding the camping stoves. Have a gas one but they are not allowed. Anyone got any clue what the best one is then? I have been looking at the meth ones but people say you need to take a lot of fuel for them, and the greenheat ones are apparantely really rubbish? I am tempted to take the disposable ones but they won't boil water very quickly?
Ta.

Proper Trangia type meths ones are pretty good. The little meths ones are also ok but yeah a bit shit and need quite a lot of fuel.

I try to camp righht at the top of blue. Very close to the arena/toilets/relentless etc, and theres the big tower, so not much trouble there.
You have to get there pretty early though, cause id say its the best spot there is.

Do you need to take a lot of fuel with them? So rubbish at this without my little gas cannister. Haha.

I personally like to camp in Blue, it's near all the main attractions but isn't too wild. Best advice is when you arrive and pitch your tent, firstly get to know your neighbours, they'kll keep an eye out for you and you can keep an eye out for them. After you've did that go for a wander and get your bearings, Leeds luckily is very easy to get around and the main stuff in the campsite is basically in a straight line.

Any other questions, don't be afraid to ask.:)
