The Jim Jones Revue - Little Richard meets the Faces via the Pistols 4. Kingsize - Sunday afternoon Ska Spot - every year please 5. Beautiful South - Paul who?? Top 5 "other" 1. Breakfast at Lansdowne 2. Cocker Hoop at the Ale Bar 3. Brendan Burns 4. The Walls Pasty van had no customers! 5. The Hall itself is a first class venue/all the staff are great. 5 Disappointments 1. Sell-Out to Bulmers (no decent cider on site like previous years) 2. Bon Iver should have been inside (IMHO) .....can't think of any more!! Completewasters Posted August 17, 2009 Report Share Posted August 17, 2009 (edited) I guess I should add some highlights of my own, im what was my 5th SSW volunteering and working for Complete Wasters. musically (i must have missed many great acts)... but in no particular order 1. the sounds of imelda may i could hear from behind the tent where i was sorting some bins. 2. the deap people (na'im must hold the record from playing the festival in different bands - uncle frank, fatal star as well as deap people) 3. the last 15 mis of emmy the great 4. 5 minutes of you fellows of all souls 5. beardyman controlling the main arena audience general 1. richard haswell having to try to quell the boos after easystar allstars 2. the sound of monotonix singer doing 'the jump' 3. the zutons lamenting the passing of the charlotte (i also enjoyed the way he said this is the biggest gig we've ever played... in leicester!) 4. playing with walkie talkies, over 5. not being quite as tired as previous years (although still knackered) lowlights - 1. flyering (its an arse to have to collect them off the floor - bloody st entienne had someone flyering for chrissakes). EDIT - its not allowed, but we for one will tolerate if flyers are handed to people as longs they're not left on tables. 2. bulmers* (a huge amount of unexpected glass for us to deal with, and the staff were unhelpful)... i'm sure those of you raving about the cider would have been just as happy drinkiing out of cans 3. our inability in this digital age to collect enough film pots to cope with number of smokers (if anybody has seen any other effective solutions to problem of fag butts we'd be grateful. 4. the inability of biffa to deal with wooden cutlery 5. not realising we needed a recycling point in the area of the village opposite pieminster and Lechyd Da * jrb... my understanding is they are not likely to return next year... of course 'selling out' ultimately means cheaper tickets and indeed that the festival is able to go ahead Edited August 18, 2009 by Completewasters Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I know you was only supposed to go over once (or once per day) but i visited many times and kept going over to a different person after I'd rubbed the stamp off! even the security on the gate said hello to me and laughed everytime I went through. Teitur - I knew he was going to be special, but i think I've totally fallen in love. It was just the most stunning set. Very open, very honest.. and what a lovely bloke! 2. David Thomas Broughton - (sorry Sean) I'm still speechless. Seriously. Anyone who missed this, missed something really quite special. Myself and the Sister were bawling like a couple of babies toward the end. Veh powerful stuffs. 3. The Jim Jones Revue - What can I say?? Pure. SEX. The Lightning Seeds - brilliant sing-a-long set. 3. Beardyman - Did a great job on the main stage and is truly amazing to watch live. 4. Kingsize - the most dancing I did all weekend, but so hot in that tent... 5. Easy Star All-Stars - perfect on a sunny Summer Sundae afternoon Other... 1. As has already been said, the weather 2. The food is always a delight at SSW. There's not enough days to eat everything! 3. The cleanliness of the toilets despite there only being about 12 for what must have been a few thousand people. 4. The atmosphere cannot be beaten. So laid back and friendly. 5. My friends - there was a good mix of newbies and old hands and it all combined together to make a top weekend. Disappointments... few and far between. 1. Pizza Express instead of wood fired pizzas. I was looking forward to one of those. 2. Idiots during the Lightning Seeds. 3. Missing the balcony dive! 4. Imelda May The Deap People Easy Star All Stars Tommy Womack and the Dissenters Ross Sutherland at Phrased and Confused MC Ray Peacock in the Comedy tent, ripping into a dad who had brought two young kids in - very, very funny The weather Trashy Blonde at the Real ale tent New site layout, especially the Garden RichardH announcing the Joy Formidable and getting their name wrong Disappointments: Oi Va Voi - just didn't light my fire, and after I'd told EVERYONE to see them, pah Saturday mainstage feeling a bit samey No pitchers at the cocktail bar Ranking Junior keeping his shirt on - bloody killjoy.
