Yes i know we haven't had this years fest.
and i know it's very very early to be talking about next years lineup

but from punktastic:

Blink 182 have confirmed to MTV they will tour Europe in 2010. Mark Hoppus said: "All three of us have agreed to go over to Europe in the next year, so we're going to start planning that out." PT understands the band have already been approached to play Reading/Leeds next year.

I reckon they'll end up headlining Sonisphere or more likely Download. I doubt they'd be offered a headline slot at R/L. Also they were due to headline Download in 2005 but split just before it was to be announced hence the out of place booking of Feeder as headliner.

Unless they're forced to soni or download as an exclusive they'll probably be at R/L as well as it's their favourite uk festival.  There's also the twitter message Mark Hoppus left a few months ago...something along the lines of 'just because were're not playing reading/leeds at the moment it doesn't mean we wont be'

I reckon blink would get offered a headline slot at either festival. Reckon what it'll come down to is what other festivals they choose to play, since they're bound to be a hot commodity next year, having not played in the uk for half a decade.

Wouldn't surprise me. Whether they'd headline or not is debatable but my money's on them playing 2nd before AC/DC or Green Day.

A Band is coming to the UK so they must be playing reading and leeds. One of these days that website will die the death it deserves

They literally have taken this "understanding" out of the rumor mill inside their own heads. They also "understood" that AC/DC and Green Day were headlining Leeds not long ago.

I will more than likely be spat on for this but Blink 182 headlining doesn't excite me - I saw them at Reading 2000 for the 1st time and it was silly and great, saw them again at Reading (2003 maybe?) and they were good to then, saw em again on their last UK tour and they bored the hell out of me - I just don't like the self titled era mature, Blink 182 and to be honest I don't want a bunch of thirty somethings blabbing on about jerking it and blowjobs.  As far as I'm concerned they have had their time!

Also I reckon every festival will be attacking them with giant zombie boners to get them to play - Blink will bring in the punters and this reunion is so about the money (for all parties concerned) its un-f**king-real!!!

so travis nearly getting bbq'ed in a plane has no impact on their decision to reform?

No doubt they'll be making a packet, but i wouldn't say it's 100% about the cash

I have no doubt that blink would pull a good crowd but wonder if you slightly overexagerate their drawing power. They arent as big a draw as the 3 headliners this year or last year.

Blink 182 are one of the few bands who could bring my mates (all 24+) back to Reading. I imagine it would be a similar case for alot of people in their early 20s.

I can see how that would be important for the organisers if they were failing to sell out. However from the organisers prespective they wont be too bothered about missing out on a few people in their early/mid 20s if people in their late teens will take their places.

To be fair to them I do think the Travis incident did have something to do with it - maybe i was being a little OTT there.  I do think they would be a massive draw though, even though a lot of people may have outgrown them I think there are a lot of younger people who missed them last time round - for example a 20 yr old Blink fan would only have been 14/14 last time they toured.

Early to mid twenties are less likely to be students and therefore have more moneys for pointless festival shit and booze. Surely the festival selling out AND making more money from concessions would be a better business move :P

I have different general experiences to me its the students that have the most disposable income.  From a busines point of view I would target these more than your friends as I think theres more likelyhood they would come back the following year.   I would consider bliknk 182 in a similar place to kasabian, in terms of popularity very much the high end for the second headlner but very much the low end of headliner. IM therefore not sure where they would fit, however from some respect maybe its good to have different headliners than the current safe bets we get most year.  I would also say how many bands less popular than blink 182 have headlined the festival? You could possibly say ratm and the pixies but both had been away for a longer time and possibly could be considered more influential.

I'd say Blink are at least the same level as Kings of Leon or Arctic Monkeys.
