I know it's a pretty big question, but I'm hoping to go for the first time next year, and was wondering what you can/can't get and how much it's going to cost. for example:
food
fags
cigarette papers
beer
nice hats
anything else I might desire
Cheers

The cigs are dear - £6.50 to £7.50 If I remember correctly
Lager is about £3.40 a pint , but some of the real ales in the bars were around £2.80
Lighters can be a£1.00
Food - You can eat well for £5 or £6.00

Ahhhhhhhhhh do not get me going about the price of Fags at Glastonbury i will say it again that damn 24 hour shop this year was the biggest con at Glasto besides the Fags there was the damn paracetamol which i never took to Glasto and needed them and wished i did, the ones you can buy at Morrison's costing 35p for 12 at this 24 hour shop £2.50
Yep £7.50 for 20 Benson's naff and another naff
Always take plenty of fags, wet wipes, paracetamol, plasters and stomach products to Glasto unless you want to part with a big amount of money to the conning 24 hour shop.
Yep moaning again

Can't: Crates of beer
A big issue for many is that you can't buy crates of beer on-site or anywhere in the local viciniity.
Can: Hats
You will not find a find a larger selection of hats this side of Luton

Food is very good and fairly cheap in the greenfield areas...stay away from the burger vans
Bottled water is expensive, except for the Glastonbury Spring Water
Lager and cider are expensive, warm and total crap..Look for the real ale bars
Can't say on fags as i don't participate.
Everything in the 24 hour chemist / sell all stalls is overpriced...so do a real good list on what to bring.
Clothing, souvenirs, WAY OVER PRICED.
Best value is your ticket...it will be more expensive in 2010...But worth every penny

Have you been to any other festivals? Well funnily enough...the prices will be the same as those...
The food prices this year were bordering on the ridiculous especially with a credit crunch on...
fag prices...just give up folks!
A lot of stalls take cards now and you can get cashback too so you dont have to keep queueing up at the cashpoints that it turns out skim anyway!!!

3 pints of Brothers for a tenner I thought was pretty good. Cheaper than pub prices.
Food... OK, burger van stuff is over priced, and inedible so didn't have to go there, but I ate a main meal each day for about 6 quid... reckon I spent 15 quid a day on food... I think thats excellent considering the variety and quality....
Fags... f**king ridiculous. 7.50. It was only an emergency pack at the end of the festival, but still.
Captive market and all that!

yeah the 2l of brothers for a £10er was so much better. also i dont think the ciggies were that bad really... yeah £7.50 is bad, but they cost £6 in the shops, given that afew glastos a go they were £6.50 whilst being £5 in the shops its just the same markup.

I think Brothers works out cheaper now as the price of the 2 litre would have gone up way over a tenner as they've not been around for a couple of years now... and 3 pints ain't far off 2 litres! £6 for fags! My Lammy Butlers are 5.30! A veritable bargain!

Where would be the closest place to buy crates of beer? I'm willing to walk a couple of miles if theres no buses
If I get a ticket then I'd be coming down from Scotland, most likely by public transport, so carrying crates would a nightmare

No , but a couple of ciggies and a can of diet coke works out cheaper than spending £5.00
on some dodgy food.
I have a friend who works in advertising and thats what some models live off !

Its at least 5 miles to the nearest supermarket...you buy your beer crates on the way to the festival or if coming by public transport, mayeb arrange to have amate you know is going y car to pick some up for you...and walking to the nearest supermarket out of the question folks. This fest is in the middle of the Somerset countryside!!! And Pilton shuts for the whole week!
These types of general Glasto questions are much better asked and answered in the Glasto Questions section and usually a lot nearer to the festy time, 10 months til the next one is a wee bit premature aint it?...especially with noone close to getting tix
...or you could try going through all the v similar questions the forums were/are posed each and every year...lots and lots especially over in the Questions section, you'll only have to scroll back about 2 pages, possibly not even that...
enjoy.
