And if they say no, just say there for a contest
you'll probs end up with like 50 e-tickets
Ah well the more the merrier, I know some are pissed "they could have gone for free" but that really isnt the case, and if they sell the tickets they can recoup some of/most of their losses so technically do get in for free. Personally, I gave my e-tickets away for free though

Please give me a few votes on FanShake for my time capsule idea of putting all our free e-tickets in the time capsule so that in years to come we can all remember the good year a huge majority of people got a free festival

Personally I'm quite happy that it doesn't seem to be selling well. The same bands are playing, it just means a bit less of a crowd. Which is a good thing I think.

I'm thinking the same thing, although if it's sold AS badly as unsubstantiated speculation suggests, it won't happen again.
I reckon the number of tickets sold is far higher than 11,000, but if it is that low I'd be shocked to see a next year. Which would be a big shame as, pre-festival own goals aside, this does have the potential to be a good one.

I think it's so nasty the amount of people selling the competition tickets on ebay, why enter a competition when you have no need for the prize.

I'm sure everyone who "convinced" friends to buy full price tickets are very popular now they are going for less than £75 FOR A PAIR on ebay, and their gold/black membership of the FMC means feck all if the festy doesnt happen next year.
its a shame, but I stand by what I said earlier - the organisation has been shite, the announcements have been shite, the pullouts have been shite (admittedly not necesarrily sonis fault) I mean, there still isnt a published running time yet?
It started well, and seemed like it was going to be a winner, but SG stopped delivering on his promises just before easter, and its been downhill since. The GH offer, the free buses, the drop in ticket price - all stank of poor sales, but the minute anyone mentioned it on the official board they were shot down by the fanboys - well it looks like the fanboys were wrong.
And then to have NIN playing under A7X - unforgivable.
I'm looking forward to the weekend, but wont be disappointed cos my sights are set low. Download was f**king awesome this year, and will be my festival of choice next year regardless of lineup, we will be going RIP.
Lets just make the most of it eh?

Yeah the cheap ebay tickets thing sucks, as I could saved a load of money, but im not gonna complain, how many people will get cheaper tickets, a couple of hundred out of tens of thousands, its hardly a big deal. I paid for the ticket on the strength of the original announcement of Metallica, LP, Lamb of God, Mastodon, Machine Head and the sword. Since then with bands like NIN, LB, AiC, a big load of Bohemia acts etc... My choice has only been reaffirmed. At the end of the day, I'm still gonna enjoy it the same, full price tickets or not. and we'll see if I got my moneys worth.
When were people "shot down" on the official boards for mentioning any of that? There was a bit of an outcry about the GH offer and that over there, thing is, unlike here, many over there arent pessimistic bastards, who feel the need to whinge and moan about everything, and make blanket statements about how many tickets they think were sold (based on no knowledge!). I dont see how them offering incentives could make the festival suddenly fail? yes sometimes it sucks to miss out on such offers but they were hardly great anyways, free coaches that only leave from a few locations and are no use to most, a gh offer that gives you not much of a saving and takes forever to get to you. The whining at Sonisphere when MH pulle dout was enormous too, not all were annoyed granted (as some saw boths sides of the coin) but again its hardly the soni fanboy zone like some seem to paint it
As for pullouts being shite, they've all been replaced and then some, we've ended up with more bands than were planned so its hardly terrible - not to mention in my opinion anyways the replacement bands are better than most.
NIN are playing on the larger and better Apollo stage, hence why they are before A7X (who are playing the Second, saturn stage which is a bit smaller), if you've ever been to a staggered fest/gig or whatever, this is how its pretty much always worked.
Im not saying the fest sold well, and the marketing stunts like the offers and such were clearly to boost ticket sales, but that didnt mean its struggling, facts are the festivals in its first year, and is going up against 2 similar festivals which are far more established, so it was never going to sell out. To say organisation is thie is not 100% accurate either, they have had 6 festivals to sort out, and one even sold out completely (61,000 people at finland) and looking at the others, they seemed to have done pretty well too, so whether or not the UK sells out, theyve probably made some amount of money anyways. A festival doesnt need to sell out for it to be considered a success - especially IN ITS FIRST YEAR, and if it was doing so terribly, they wouldnt add big bands back in at the end (e.g. Machine Head), wouldnt have bothered adding so many Bohemia acts, and wouldnt even give out a 1000 or so free tickets, they would have just kept it minimal, or cancelled it.
I can pretty much garantee it'll be back next year as starting up a fest (when looking to become a major established fest anyways) its always seen as an investment, they have the liscense for 10 years, and they have the financial backing (Kili live aint a poor company!)
Either way, the festival hasnt even happened yet, so I think people should wait till next weekends over before judging it. I guess we'll see if its half empty or whatever, camping capacity is only 40,000 people and arena 60,000 so its not exactly a massive venue anyways.
Im just happy I get to see Metallica again, who I would and know many would pay over £100 to see, NIN's last EU show for a long time, and Thunders last show ever. For me (especially with the sunday) the lineups very strong, and for a festival in its first year, its very good. Sure I dont love every band (but that happens with every fest), but theres a big load of bands I really want to see, and im sure it'll all go down well judging by the EU shows.

Well it appears i have had some success with my attempt on FanShake. I love how having a laugh at the low ticket sales and huge amount of competition winners may have bagged me a pair of tickets myself. But has anyone got the second email from FanShake or is it a scam just to get everyone to fill out the details on there account a little more

Fanshake wont send you the actual ticket, it will be SeeTickets most likely, they will e-mail you with a link to access Print at home tickets, tis basically a sheet with a barcode on it.
