Hi all
Seems to be people winning tickets all over the shop for this fest. Anyone know sites / places to win tickets? Any recommendations?!

Cheers

I had a google of this yesterday to try and get some free tickets so more of my mates could come. Seems all competitions are shut though

Might be worth listening to kerrang radio or something as I imagine they might be giving some away.

they just play you a bit of a song of a sonisphere band and you have to complete the lyrics

i just won some with ents 24.
can't believe it! i don't know what to do because i'm on holiday the week after so can't really get the weekend off work as that'd be 2 in a row and that'd use up all my holiday, which i need for coming home from uni at christmas. also can't really afford costs of transport/food/booze atm.

i'm not really a metal head, but i would love to see a few of the bands. i can't make it to the useds tour and i've never seen them before so it'd be my only chance!
i've got a friend who'd kill to go with me aswell, and she loves the lineup.

i really don't know what to do! the fact that they're not selling for much on ebay makes me think it'd be stupid not to go tho! arghh

Does anyone know about the VIP tickets?
I know it's a different camping area so might have vaguely better facilities but that's about it.

Does anyone else get the feeling they've decided to just do the one year?

Really hope it does carry on, but I just don't see how they're going to convince people to pay for tickets.

lol if only that would work! i've got my boss and all my work colleagues on facebook so he'd definately end up finding out. i'm thinking now if i can't sell them for 200 quid then i'll try and get the morning shift and go straight after. i'd then finsih at 1.30 and it takes 4ish hours to get there by train apparemtly. that would only be worth it if i could get there in time for the used though. and i'd have to put my tent up and stuff. anyone know what time they're on?

Nah there in it for the long haul. Starting up a festival is an investment, and selling well/selling out in the first year isnt to be expected. Remember they have the EU sonis aswell which all look to have sold well (Finalnd sold out with 61,000 people going - so that must have made them some serious money too).

The reason theres been like a couple of hundred ticket giveaways through contests is simple. Boosts numbers a bit, gets people there who will spend money, and lastly if they have a great time, means they will give it good press and possibly return for year 2.

I doubt they will have as many contests in years to come, and tbh the contests wouldnt be run if people didnt buy tickets because if sales were really poor they just wouldnt run the fest at all. If people like it this year, they'll pay for next year. I dont feel cheated, and feel ive got my moneys worth, even if some did get tickets for free (its a small lot in the overall total)

And all fests have ticket giveaways, Kerrang gave away loads of download tickets through contests this year , and it was a sold out fest. And back when it started im sure they gave away even more just like soni

I agree completely that they were never going to make money in the first year (and that selling 60,000 tickets was probably never likely). But I'd dispute that it's a couple of hundred tickets they've given away. If anecdotal evidence is anything to go by it's several thousand.

Obviously if the tickets aren't going to sell, giving them away makes a lot of sense; it raises awareness, get people's money through merchandise, increases the chance of them coming in 2010, etc. I'm just curious as to how they're going to tempt people to spend money earlier next year, on the assumption that there is a next eyar. If we did Soni again, out of 14 or 15 of us we'd probably buy one or two tickets early, and the rest of us would wait until late June/ early July before bothering. Not because we weren't confident in how good the festival would be (if we don't like it this year, we wouldn't return, if we do, we probably would), but because there seems to be a lot more incentive to wait.

I seriously doubt its several thousand, maybe 1000 max. I can see where your coming from though, but tbh most people wont know about ticket giveaways, and I wouldnt expect so many next year. The main issue with Sonisphere is, that at the moment, its not established, and it doesnt have the press that means the average person doesnt know about it at all. They get people to go this year, and have a good time, it will become bigger through word of mouth and what not, and then more and more people will look out for it next year.

So I dont think giveaways will affect ticketsales in future years, because the raised awareness will make up for it.

I hope so. Although obviously not too much, because if it sells out next year and I do what I'm doing, I'll be screwed

Just had a look on ebay. Tickets are going for practically nothing. I wish I'd waited and got a weekend ticket now instead of paying for a Sunday ticket. Never mind.
