-the link to the documentary is slightly mis-leading, in that the documentary is about the first Waveform festival at Powderham castle in Devon, which was a well run eco festival.
-the second waveform festival was waveform in name only, really, as it was held in Swindon and, compared to the previous year, it was a shambles on a number of fronts. The main difference was that i waveform 07 was run by the Sunrise crew, as was well run and genuinely eco. Waveform 08 was run by a completely different outfit who, quite frankly, did not seem capable of organising the proverbial p*ss up in a brewery.
-On the 'eco' front, Waveform '08 was anything but eco, for example, take the 'composting' loos, which were not composting at all, were in a disgraceful state and ended up being emptied by a sludge tanker for treatment/landfill, not compost. One could only compare and contrast that with the lovely composting loos at Waveform devon '07.
-ok, perhaps it was their first experience at running a festival last year, but they need to improve drastically on last years cock-ups.
-judging by the line up, clearly they are out to cut costs to the bone this year, lets hope that does not include the organisational or facilities side of things.
-a better bet would appear to be the Eden festival, which has the sort of line up Waveform can only dream of, at much less cost.

-don't want to be mean, as I attended both Waveform festivals, but it does annoy me when folks bill themselves as a eco festival, its ok doing the talking, but the Waveform Swindon reality was very much different.
-I will be giving it a miss this year and head off to the Eden festy.

Definately thinking of giving this a go this year, lineup looks ace and the people I know who are involved in the festival are very committed and do things for the right reasons..
Just7 - Based on your experiences theres been one good and one not so good, probably fair to give them the benefit of the doubt and just offer them support and good vibes!!
Eden does look lovely, we just can't fit it in tho..

-with the hindsight of reflection, you are probably right, Flip.
-just slightly peeved re its 'eco' billing, but, ok, good luck guys, hope it goes well for you + I will look to give it another bash next year, all things being equal.

You make some valid points Just7, the toilets and lack of water were no joke last year maybe the move to Stratford will iron out those problems, long marston airfield is a long running festival site home of Phoenix festival, the bulldog bash and creamfields and hopefully is better equipt for taps etc.
all these festivals claims of green credibillity I take with a pinch of salt all there talk of organic this and that just translates to me that they're going to be expensive .
just for the record It's on a different weekend from Eden festival and as your said Eden festival does have a great line up.

Hi there, cosmonaughty
-take your point, the move to Long marston should sort those sort of problems out, hopefully.
-I did ,overall, have a good time at Waveform '08 (waveform '07 was one of the best festives I have been to in recent times).
-there was a strong line-up for waveform '08 which helped to mitigate the other problems.
-to me, the line up for '09 does not look as good, but each to their own etc etc. It also looks like there is going to be no main Waveform stage this year, rather a number of very much smaller stages, like Cats Cradle. Not saying that is necasarilly bad, but just looks like they are paring down on costs to me.
-anyway,yes, it is a different week-end to Eden, but it needs a bit more than what they are currently offering to persuade me to go for it this year, perhaps next year....
