New York metallers ANTHRAX have issued the following statement:

"The members of ANTHRAX regretfully announce that the first three shows of their European tour scheduled to begin tomorrow, Saturday, July 18th, are canceled. Yesterday, lead singer Dan Nelson unexpectedly informed the band that he was seriously ill and unable to travel or perform at this time. Options for the balance of ANTHRAX's European tour dates are being addressed posthaste. The members of ANTHRAX are devastated by this unfortunate turn of events and ask all of their fans to join them in wishing Dan the speediest of recoveries."

Affected dates:

July 18 - Sonisphere - Hultsfred, Sweden
July 19 - Vega Jr. - Copenhagen, Denmark
July 20 - Columbia Club - Berlin, Germany

May I add my best wishes to Dan, doesn't sound good does it?

Is it just me, or does that sound a bit unimpressed? Could be reading into it too much though.

I'm not too fussed if they do either way, they're not my sort of thing.

Doubt they'd pull out, considering they've only cancelled 3 days wirth of gigs tells us that hes ill, but not life threatningly ill. the fact hes taking a few days off should mean he'll be in top form for sonisphere.

They would have cancelled like the 7 gigs in between sonisphere and these if they were gonna pull out :P

Have Avenged Sevenfold dropped out yet? Or are they saving that party trick for the day they're playing?

If it is flu (of the swine variety) he might be quarantined and not allowed to travel as a precaution.

Hope he's ok and if they pull, hope the organisers get a decent replacement in good time if they do have to pull!

And where does this rumour come from ;)

Random speculation from people? Because thats not a good foundation for a rumour.

Ill say it again, they cancelled gigs for yesterday, today and tommorow, and have left all their gigs from the 22nd onwards (including UK sonisphere) as still being played. This means he cant be seriously ill otherwise they woudl have cancelled more than a few days of gigs. I guess we will find out on 22nd, which is their next gig.

Hate to be a bind, but that's a random speculation from a person. :)

No it isnt, the tour dates are on their website... the info thats posted on it said they were only cancelling those 3 dates, do you not think if they were gonna pull out of soni they would pull out of the 7 dates they are playing before soni too? Including Wacken and Sonisphere Finland

They cancelled 3 of the 10 gigs before soni, so most likely he isnt that ill, like I said though, next gig is on the 22nd, so we'll find out if they play then, hes got like 2 weeks to recover anyways, and liek I said since they only cancelled a few immediate dates i really doubt its anything that would affect Sonisphere UK

http://www.anthrax.com/ its on here...

I hope they begged Jon Bush and he told them to get f**ked. And belladonna rejoins.

joey belladonna was the best known singer, he left and they got jon bush to replace him, years later Sharon "the c**t" osborne approached them and said that they could have a slot on the US ozzfest tour if they reformed with belladonna, they f**ked bush off and took the money.
