OK

So I've now caught up with the 30+ hours of recording done over the weekend from BBC1, 2, 3 and 4.

During one of the late night programmes, hosted by Lauren Lavern and Mark Radcliffe, one of them (though I don't remember which) said that it had been reported that Mick Jagger had been seen on site and there was speculation as to whether he was doing a rece ahead of next year's anniversary festival.

I know the possibility of The Stones is raised every year but is it really possible??!!

I hope not. I'm sure they're a great act live but Ive been stung by the Who and 'having' to see them over other bands because theyre legends and I wouldnt get another chance

I hope not because they are diametrically opposed to the Glastonbury spirit.  They are the biggest corporate sell-outs in the world of music ever.

Not good enough anymore...way past there sell by date...I saw them in 76 at Knebworth, they were good then but Lynrd Skynrd blew them away. Don't do it Mr Eavis, you would end up a laughing stock, there a stadium band these days, and only in it for more dosh, as if they have not made enough. :D  :D  :D  ;)  B)

I couldn't give a flying f**k if they are greedy arseholes. If they play Glasto it will be because they lowered their demands specifically for the festival.

One of the greatest bands of all time and i'd be right at the front pouting and mincing about to Start Me Up, Paint It Black and Wild Horses.

I very much doubt it'll happen anyway.

Fark off. U2 rule.

As for the Stones? Kidding me? The Stones at Glastonbury would be mindblowing.

It seems to be a fairly open secret what the headliners get paid.  They wouldn't be doing it for the money and would get a massive crowd on the pyramid.

Can't really see it happening but I'd say it would be a bigger deal than getting Springsteen this year.

The Stones next year would be outstanding. And essential.

If aliens landed on Planet Earth in search of higher intelligence, one of the first questions they might pose would be - "What is Rock and Roll?"

The answer of course is:

Oh yes.  Far, far, far worse.  But U2 are trying desperately to emulate them.

....
Oh yes they would.  They'd be doing it for back catalogue album sales.  Any band that releases 25 studio albums and 46 compilations and live albums (!!!) and has tours sponsored by mortgage companies makes it fairly clear where their priorities are.  Notwithstanding the fact that they ripped off the music of poor black southern US musicians to get there.
