Personally i think this years headliners are the best that they have had.Not a metal fan at all so im happy.Personally i think this years line up is great, maybe not as good as 2008 but still very good for the major set backs FR have had this year.

rivalschools.price, on Jul 12 2009, 01:06 AM, said:if u think im drunk.u should listen to my wife and her friends drunken conversation.
highlights include---------
1) FR should encourage more rockers as they drink more beer(therefore) making them more profits.(i dont think that this has been scientifically been proven)
2) FR should have booked 'down' as they are not touring that weekend(i severely doubt that they have checked this fact)
3) FR have made no effort whatsoever this year as they know that the festival will sell out anyway(if true, this attitude wouldnt last long as people would simply go to other festivals)
4) rise against will blow arctic monkeys off the stage (highly unlikely as arctic will have at least 5 times as many people watching them)
5) if they were organising next years festival they would have, therapy?,clutch, dream theater, trail of dead, mars volta, biffy clyro, green day, reel big fish and NIN playing (i bet this would sell out in a second)
6) this years line up is just all the shite bands from the last 3 years in a slightly different order.(the girl who is saying this is almost topless so im not going to disagree with her)
7) i dont need a seven as the first 6 points are outrageous enough.imagine what its like for me listening to all this bollocks, yes, im pissed but not this bad.
1) Damn right.
2) Meh, minor point of disagreement.
3) Bloc Party.
4) Obviously AM are going to go down well (albeit not as well as 2006), but I expect Rise Against to pack out the tent and then some. You can't really do a lot more than fill the tent and have people outside it, because the sound from inferior stages simply drowns it out if you're not close enough.
5) Apart from NIN all of those bands are realistic.
6) Bloc Party. And if you're going to say something along those lines, we expect photos dammit

it makes me laugh that alot of posters on here actully think most people want heavy rock/metal at reading/leeds festival. its been basically an indie festival for the past 10 years with a pretty small preditable splattering of metal. metal day now thats bollox aswel I remember the likes of stereophonics headlining the "metal" day!
its a simple fact that metal doesnt sell out festivals! give em this years headliners rather than them bloody tallica yawn lot.

That it's not just heavy metal that does, or doesn't, sell out festivals.
And given that Latitude is widely considered to offer a better experience than Reading, and in your opinion has music that sells out festivals, you're proving yourself wrong.

I just think they spent all thier time trying to persuade radiohead to play, leaving them concentrating less on the rest of the lineup, hence the ridiculous clashes.

Meh, I thought 2008 was a terrible festival. Not only for the mediocre music though. This year is a lot better, 'cause there's less metal. And Radiohead.
Shame about Bloc Party though. They've outstayed their welcome.

i do think this line up is pretty terrible too, the headliners are okay, but its no one new or out of the ordinary, people who have played many festivals in recent years so most people have seen em, but as for the rest of the line up, i think is rather poor as lacks some big more diverse names like recent years have had

Seems to be the case with most of the big festivals this year with the exception of Glastonbury. TITP had Killers, Snow Patrol and KOL again who all played 07/08. V has Killers (last played 07) and Oasis (2005). Stereophonics, Prodigy and Razorlight have all headlined or sub-headlined IOW before etc. etc.
