Its also hilarious to note that Machine Head who are so pissed off at the promoters and wont play because of that, are still playing the EU sonisphere dates...

That's what's really got my goat.

If they had pulled out of all the dates, you'd have to ask yourself whether Machine Head have a point. But to just pull out of the UK date, yet take the same "disrespectful" people's money elsewhere, is the worst thing they could have done.

I think they've pulled out of this one so that they can get out of their exclusivity agreements in all the countries. Don't be surprised if they're last minute additions to two or three festivals.

Not that I'll be watching them. C**ts.

Shows Machine Head honouring HIM's contract and billing ^^^^.

But yeah I ain't sure what to make of this, Soni have pissed off MH and Frank Turner both enough to pull out. Considering I've never heard of a band pulling out of any festival before for the organisers being ****s, I'd imagine Soni are more at fault here then their response lets on.

This might not be the only issue MH have had with Soni but just where they crossed the line? They're not really allowed to say alot with all the contract and stuff...

Soni didnt piss off Frank Turner, he was down as playing Sonisphere then wanted to play R&L, but from waht he said, he was told he would need to pull out sonisphere to pkay R&L's (its happened witha  few smaller bands aswell, dino pileup, chapman family etc...) so reading stole em.

I dont see there being otehr issues and even if there were, if they are so pissed off, why are they playing the otehr shows.

It seems they have some ego related problems and are hurting their fans with this stupid, childish and selfish act.  Machine 'f**k off' Head more like...

it is a bit different.
you wouldn't be letting thousands of fans down like they are.
They're both equally petty and selfish attitudes.

At the end of the day, MH are letting down all their fans who bought tickets based partly on the fact they were playing. Forget petty arguments, promoters, which band is better, money, slots. When it comes down to it, the fans are the only thing that matter.

And for that reason alone, they can f**k off. It is a totally selfish decision and they have disappointed a lot of people. As someone else pointed out, they aren't cancelling the other Sonisphere dates, which smacks of double standards and pure hypocricy.

Can't blame Sonisphere on this one, Machine Head were out of line after Sonisphere offered them a longer slot and increased fee.

I had to laugh at this dude's one man crusade to get Machine Head back on the bill

I hope this isn't the vast majority of what the punters at Knebworth are going to be like....

I'm not really a fan of MH, more of LB, tho thats besides the point. Seems a little premadonna like to me, i mean ok so they are a big band and the norm is big bands go nearer the headline. But thats not for the bands its for the crowds, for the build up through the day. I don't like that a band won't play simply because of their opinions on their stature, what happened to bringing the music to the people whenever, however. I dunno, maybe i miss the point cus im not in a band.

Bad form from both sides, they should have been warned but they should have maybe bitten the bullet (ha) and taken the lower billing!!

They were my highlight of the weekend for sure, VERY DISSAPOINTED!!

Yeah but I dont get it, look at other festivals out there, bands placement and lineups and such change overtime quite a lot, its usually not set in stone till its all announced.  I could have understood where MH were coming from if Sonisphere had given them a major bump down (and not one slot) or sonisphere hadnt tried to reason with them but they did.  In fact Sonisphere offered Machine Head the slot Avenged Sevenfold are playing, so that means they'd have been inbetween NIN and Metallica (so its the 3rd best slot at the fest!) and MH remained stubborn that they would no longer play.

Basically they put their ego's ahead of their fans and pulled out over something thats incredibly petty.

It's really changed my opinion of MH. I absolutely love their music, but I think they could've come to some form of agreement...

Also, if they were so commited to their musical cause (as oppose to money) they would've done download, and if they were so arsed about posisition on stage, done download as they were offered a higher place there...

I think Sonispheres organisers were a bit lacking in tact when they made the decision, but i suppose in the grand scale of things, Limp Bizkit are a more well known band than Machine Head (even if LB music leaves a bit to be desired) so what were the organisers meant to do?

I am quite concerned as to the way this festival is going though, as Fear factory and MH were 2 of the bands i really wanted to see, and the lineup looks quite empty, and certainly lacking the whole *quality* promised, and its only like 2/3 weeks away......

Just hope slipknot are there, then might cheer a few people up (including myself)

Corey taylor seems a more reasonable guy than Rob flynn anyway lol...

I noticed this earlier aswell.

Whats also important to note that would fuel this rumour...

Sonisphere said they had an interesting chat with them, and Phil.  Machine Head said they would be over for the K! awards and were gonna "check in" to Sonisphere UK to check it out too...  Maybe they saw a lot of backlash from fans, and decided that the fans were more important than lineup placement.

I hope they have realised that the way to deal with this is to play the set of there lives and blow away Limp Bizkit off the stage with an immense performance.

Even I would be positive about the festival if Machine Head are back.....

Could well be Machine Head.

Likely alternatives include Slipknot and the Sugababes.

Sadly it won't be the Sugababes as they have swine flu but I would prefer them to be on the bill than a tribute band like Bjorn Again, they look better, sing better and write there own pop songs.
