I know this news has been kicking around since yesterday, but if you work hard  ;) like me you may not of had the time to scour the net.

Personally, when I first saw this tour on the seetickets mail out my heart skipped a beat. Pixies are probably the band I love the most whom I've never seen properly (by that I mean I caught a 10 minute glimpse at Reading when I only knew Monkey Gone To Heaven and Where Is My Mind).

Anyway, I realised that I will be up in Manchester during October. £40 odd (after all the add ons) for ticket, £30 train fare, £16 to get from here to London...all during term time? Too much hassle really.

Then I also realised that for a band like Pixies I'd have to see a greatest hits set. I couldn't see one of my favourite bands and just see them play one album.

Then I found that pre sale link for Flaming Lips which is kicking around = £22 for a ticket (on www.gigantic.com), and I'll be living 5 minutes from the venue for that one  :) :D :). No brainer really, and seeing the Lips has made up for any disappointment in missing these Doolittle shows!

Anyway, hope anyone that wants to go get some tickets! 9am tomorrow at all the usual suspects.

I'm far too excited about the Pixies playing. I'd travel pretty much in the country, or even Scotland if there was a weekend one, in order to see them at such venues. No way am I not going.

I'd kinda like to see the Flaming Lips again, but last time it was slightly too much about the show and not about the music, and none of them are weekend gigs... so I'm giving those a miss.

Doolittle is their best album though. Hope to catch them in Dublin.

Is debateable though.

I think bossanova is by a country mile. Hell, as brilliant as Doolittle is, I think I may even prefer Trompe Le Monde.

Flaming Lips direct pre-sale link;

Might try for Pixies tickets, but in the exact same boat as original poster. Except not being a student as of 13th July.

HEL-LO! Surfer Rosa is way the best :D

Those crazy backwards drum beats and weird lyrics blew my mind when I first them as previously I'd only ever been exposed to the generic sounds of radio friendly rock.

Each new album lost a bit of the magic, but was still absolutely incredible. Surfer Rosa is the best, just. Just.

Argh! I've just looked at my gigs in October! I swore after last november (9 gigs in 2 and a half weeks) I'd not do that many in a short space of time again! It's not as bad, but all it will take is a couple more around the time to fill in the gaps and I'm looking at some serious fatigue

Really wanted to go to one of these but really can't afford it. Well I could but there are other events (ATP 10th Anniversary) that I want to go to more. Hopefully they pull it off, Pixies are awesome but some albums shows can come off a bit souless. Will hopefully nab a ticket from somewhere for cheap nearer the time.

Bossanova and Trompe Le Monde are both solid albums but they're not packed with classic after classic like their first two are.

There's an interview on Youtube between Tony Wilson and Billy Corgan, and Corgan mentions something about the Happy Mondays supporting Pixies on their Doolittle tour in the US. That would have just been epic.

what is there to say about R&L that hasn't already been said in this forum?!
we might as well talk about music in general or all bugger off until the next announcement.

Last time I checked you weren't a mod mate.

People post news of tours all the time in the various forums.
