We used to camp in front of the cinema field. Lost the camping spot and had to walk miles around the bloody hospitality area. Pissed me off

Yeah I really missed the Cinema Feild - very happy memories watching the Goonies there a few years back, atmosphere was awesome. I agree though that it is weather dependent and was too cold/ wet in 07/ 08 to fully enjoy.
I presume it will have to come back in some capacity next year to deal with potential world cup matches
Perhaps they could incorporate some sort of cinema into Flagtopia?

I was just about to start a thread with this very title, until I did a quick search.
Really missed the cinema field.
It had a become a bit of a Glastonbury tradition for us to wander over there late on the Wed or Thurs night to huddle together, have a drink and watch some classic eighties comedies (Goonies, Ghostbusters etc). It was also the place where we'd meet latecomers arriving from the bus before helping them pitch their tents.
Bring back the outdoor cinema!
Now, as someone with a press pass, I was camped in the hospitality area that took its place. I know, conflict of interest and all that. As someone mentioned before, half of it was pretty much igloos and pods and yurts and wendy houses and whatever the hell else they offer to mud-phobic Tamaras these days.
Balls to all that, I say.
Bring back the cinema field, Eavii!

The 'hospitality' thing is way out of hand. It's becoming a two tier festival, especially with all the backstage bars and entertainment. Way out of hand, and somehting, imo, needs doing about it.

I agree with you entirely, but I guarantee you it will only get worse, not better

Of course, but I'd rather she was penned in away from me so I don't have the urge to vomit over her.
I can't speak for this year as I wasn't there, so I don't know how cramped the relocated cinema felt, but I've been to Glasto 5 times and STILL haven't seen it all. Giving some room to rich, pretentious, self important w**kers doesn't bother me at all, if it means I don't have to look at them.

Last year we (family) wathced Jungle Book in the massive cinema tent - I'm sure this year it was much smaller altho i cold be mistaken. It felt way too small when we were waiting in vain for Madagascar

Is the bit I've bolded a typo?
I see what you mean, and obviously I can't comment on this year as I wasn't there, but I always thought the cinema was too out of the way to bother going there, which is why I was so surprised where they put it.
We'll have to see what they do next year.

I'm with you! Storm the Bastille! Vive la revolution!
Or maybe we could write a letter? Start a petition? Talk about making a T-shirt?
You know that fence ain't too high to throw stuff over. If you're camping in the neighbouring fields I think you know what to do with your rubbish and excess mud? If it gets too unpleasant for 'em they can come out of their compound and camp with us riff raff. They'll be welcome. The more the merrier. I think its what Glasto is all about - having a good time and meeting loads of different people.
