trash city, arcadia and shangri-la were undoubtedly my favourite part of the whole festival and probably the best thigng i have ever seen. keep up the good work is all i can say i guess. i absolutely loved it and pretty much saw all of it.
they should plough as much money and effort into it as possible, it is literally the greatest idea ever. my dad described it best when questioning me about it.#
"like 3 music-focussed theme parks" what could be better?!

I thought Shangri-la was incredible this year - the Badlands streets were just such a fabulous concept all round, just like being in Bladerunner!
Actually The Snake Pit bore an uncanny resemblence to Chews Eye Works featured in that very film...

Thanks everyone here that enjoyed their time in The Drum Machine. That was the first time we have set the installation up at any festival and we thoroughly enjoyed it!!
We will be working on improvements and modifications all the time and your feedback and ideas are most welcome. We encourage it!

I didn't find it that hard to get in on Saturday night. Mind you, I did go to the Cabaret Tent for an hour or so after Bruce to see Brendon Burns before heading up.

It was called the Slippery Shack or something like that.anybody know the name of that bar down some steps to the left off the railway, just before you get to the entrance to Shangri-La? i thought i'd imagined it last year and was relieved to find it again, but i still have no idea what it is.
Sat night, we saw the mind blowing Freeland and the awesome Evil 9 at the bonkers arcadia DJ booth. Once you got down there through the crowds, there was mountains of space and that was my Glastonbury moment.

my mate and i stumbled in to it on sunday night and wished we'd found it earlier in the weekend.
Was that the one next to the tiny little real ale and cider pub? I had the nicest pint of cider all weekend from there! Dare I say it... nicer than the cider bus
When I walked in to that little pub, my immediate reaction was "What the f**k?!" I really wasn't expecting it to be there!

Saw Mick Jones playing with some band in there, got in just as they were starting Should I Stay or Should I Go. Have a vague memory of going up to him when he was getting off stage and shouting at him to get back up and play London Calling. "GO ON!! I'LL SING!!" He was very nice considering I was totally tonto at the time.
After that I remember a stall/stage with Keith Allen calling people c**ts from the stage and the guy who played Neil in the Office on lead vocals in the band.
Glasto eh?!

I liked it, but it had a bit of a safari park feel. From 12am till 3am there seemed to be an endless procession of people who had entered at Trash City, followed the road through Shangri La and Arcadia, then out the other end. Just staring at things as they shuffled past. Maybe waiting for the baboons to start playing with their windscreen wipers.
Personally, I found it way too rammed to enjoy, but then I am getting on a bit!
(Strumpets with Crumpets was freaking awesome though!)

Swindlebiscuit, on Jul 7 2009, 12:44 PM, said:That's a good point actually - because of the design it was like an amusement park with people shuffling through, maybe they should change the layout to discourage this, and did anyone try to go against the flow, try to get, say from Arcadia back up to Basslines? As bad as trying to get to Pyramid for Scouting for Girls when Faithless have just come off,I liked it, but it had a bit of a safari park feel. Still suffering depression for missing this area. Although I did walk through Trash City and Shangri La our group threw the towel in and we headed back.
Seemed to be the story of our late night excursions, overwhelming tiredness that is. Loved the Rabbit Hole there got to be the best place for Special K I have ever visited.
Here is Adam Free land at Arcadia, it looked thoroughly enjoyable

Brilliant. If they update the Glastonbury book, that should go in.

Yeah... It was the cosiest place. Such a contrast from the rest of the madness in Shangri-la. Me and my mate stayed in there for hours on the Friday night. Found it really hard to leave!
