There is a significant thread elsewhere with details about tent thefts.
The police - according to The Guardian - reported 'there were 148 tent thefts this year, half of last year's figure'.
That's BOLLOCKS. They may well have a record of 148 'reported' thefts but I wonder how many tents were robbed but not reported. My son's tent was robbed and at least 6 others in our party entered - camped in Pennards, area above the Red Triangle Camp, Wednesday night.
My son reported it to the Camp Crew but no details were taken. I later asked if telling Camp Crew results in a report to the Police and was told 'No' so I took it upon myself to report it officially. To do this I had to go to the furthest reaches of the site up near Worthy Farmhouse.
Excuse me but I think many people will
i) believe that a report to Camp Crew would class as a 'report'
ii) if they found out where they have to go to report theft would just not bother, especially on the Friday / Saturday / Sunday
