Did anyone else witness Badly Drawn Boy play his heart wrenching mind blowing set on Avalon. Not a dry eye in the house then to finish with a cover of I Wanna Be Adored..wow

Bit sketchy but I'm 98% certain was Saturday afternoon in Avalon tent. Was packed in there and as I said rather emotional. Started with a cover of Jackson 5 'I Want You Back'.

Was literally right at the front for this one, like on the railings and I agree it was one of the most beautifull sets I've ever seen. The Jackson 5 cover though was very strange, just him standing there with a paper of lyrics I was thinking to myself "This is gonna go horribly wrong" but when he actually played his stuff and he got into it, it was epic. And plus some kid next to me knew every word to every song so me and him were having a little sing along to ourself, BDB himself even smiled at me at one point. Truly magical stuff.
Cheers,

Sorry to miss this if he was on form. Strange he needed the words for the Jackson Five song as he sang it to my wife without the words once!

Was fantastic, even better was the fact that we were stood 1 metre away from Guy Garvey. Sadly I wasn't brave enpough to ask for a photo.

i thought he was excellent, really glad i went, disappointed i had to leave early for kasabien.
i had to laugh about him saying that avalon is the "real glastonbury" coz i didn't hear him saying that when he played on the Other Stage in 03

I'm glad some other people thought it was a great set! I'm glad I dragged some of our party along - I got the sense that, unlike the last time he played, he was genuinely happy to be playing (even if there was the odd glimpse of his occasional grouchiness, like when he restarted a song or moaned about his monitors).

I thought he was great, i was also not far from Guy Garvey but like you diddnt ask for a photo. Does anyone know what the song was called that was dedicated to his friend who went missing and turned out he passed away? really liked that one.
