We left Manchester at 5am on Wednesday morning, after 200 miles and 4 hours driving we reached the exit slip of the M5 junction at around 10am (we had to avoid a crash on the M6 which didn't help). The last 20 miles from the M5 junction took a further 7 hours! We parked up and turned off the engine at 4:45pm in West 27. Almost 12 hours in total.
I think we'll leave at midnight next year!!!
What about everyone else?

We left Nantwich at 4pm and made great time and were past Bristol by 7pm. Fantastic we thought.
Then we hit the "Road to hell" A39/37
Eventually arrived on site 1.40am.
A total of almost 10hrs with 7 of those on the last 10 miles.
Horrific.

Same as you. took us 2 hours to get to Jct 23 of M5, at about 11 - then took us until 7pm to get to site!! But was worth every cotton picking minute....

We left Cannock at 8.30am, pulled up on West 29 at 5.30pm so a total of 9 hours. This was after taking a shortcut through the lanes thanks to a friendly local and a campervan which brought us out at West Pennard and probably saved us about 10 miles of more queuing. Nightmare, will be leaving very early morning next year.

You must have been near us then. We left Exeter at about 9am, flew up to junction 23, then it was just crazy til we got in about 3:30pm. Also parked in West 27, so they were clearly not filling up very quickly if you got in there at 4:45.
6 1/2 hours to do a journey that should be just over an hour was physically and emotionally draining. Although, I'm not complaining, we soon forgot about the queues once we were in there and had a wicked time

..not necessarily much of a guarantee I'm afraid...some of our gang left Dublin on Tuesday night and hit the road from Bristol by about 9am on wednesday...they finally got pitched by 7.45pm...we flew over in the afternoon on wednesday, picked up the hire car at Bristol Airport at about 6pm and we were pitched by 8pm (15 minutes after our friends who left the day before!)...good old A38, only hit a wee bit of traffic on the A361 between Glastonbury town and the site, otherwise it was plain sailing (and we ended up in the last row of West 27, so coming out last night took about 15 mins....I think we may be a little lucky!).

identical - the 200+ mile trip on the M6/M5 from Manchester took less time than the A37 from Shepton Mallett to the festival - the worse thing ( apart from a 5 hour 10 mile dribble ) was.....no obvious reason !!!!!
what was going on ????

I left south of Sheffield at 9.30am on Wednesday, but didn't arrive until gone 11pm. Well worth it, but if I can go next year I will consider different options.

We went on the Tues night and stayed local, yet there was still an hour long traffic jam from Glastonbury town to site at 8 the next morning.
It seems like a lot more people went first thing Wednesday compared to previous years.
