Please, no jokes. I can have a pretty sick sense of humour but this man deserves respect for his inspirational music. I'm gutted. True legend and an amazing artist. RIP

I hope Fall Out Boy have the decency not to play their god awful version of beat it. That will be the sickest joke of all.

Anyone on this forum or attending Reading or Leeds appreciates good music and Michael Jackson, personal life aside made good music...that's the relevance.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big MJ fan and and very shocked and saddened by what has happened. I still don't think this has any relevance to R&L and the reason I said what I did as I can see this thread being ruined by people posting jokes and other inappropriate remarks.I don't think you can disagree that that has no relevance to R&L.

see 12page thread and growing in the wibble section, some people have no respect for human life judging by posts in there even if he is a person they don't even know...
ah well bit of a shame as its really gonna become a massive media circus with probably more emphasis on his weird ways and shit that occurred in his later years rather than his music and charity work  :0(

Jokes are funny.
I am very saddened by the news of him dying. As Pete Wentz said, he is the last living legend. I can still laugh at a good joke

Don't see how this is relevant to Leeds, but Michael Jackson was my hero, gutted that I was so close to finaly seeing him and yet so far.

I think the versatility of the tributes speaks volumes. I have read tribites from Slash, Justin Timberlake, Fall Out Boy, White Lies, Britney Spears, Paul Epsworth, Madonna, Jack Penate, P Diddy etc. He clearly influenced so many artists.

In my opinion the greatest musical act of the 20th century.

This is a genuine question, musically and lyrically what did Micheal Jackson do. I know as a performer etc he was amazing but never known if he writes his own stuff or what? Can't look at wikipedia or anything at the moment.

May be wrong, but i believe the majority of his stuff he wrote and composed himself

Michael Jackson's death is a product of the soceity we live in a soceity were the media slowly but very surely grind down these people.

Music would not be wot it is today without him unfortunatley there were to many "yes men" around him noteably O2 forced him to do over 50 shows instead of they originally agreed 12 this must of had considerable ipact as he was training and rehearsing much harder becauase of this and it is bound to have had a strain on his body.

I doubt anything will be learnt from this; in weeks to come we'll see people trying to make money out of this telling "their story" it makes me sick.

His music has inspired me among many many others and his music will live on for many years to come. I cant't believe he's gone.

When our ost cherished and loved actors/musicians etc die at such young ages we have to question wot role we as a soceity play. I thinks its tie the edia were stripped of their powers epescially the British tabloids they need to be reigned in ad taken control of it cannot be allowed to continue any longer.

Not only did he write most of his stuff from the age of about 16 (the songs he didn't write were written by Rod Temperton or several genius friends he could call upon eg Paul Mccartney and Stevie Wonder) but he also Produced a lot of it, and on his last album played almost every instrument!

there is no doubt he was pretty talented.  questions have to be asked about the people behind him though.
i don't know much about them but it appears that he was just a puppet which they exploited.
he clearly had mental health issues and he shouldn't have been allowed to be in a situation where he had children in his bed, dangled his child from a balcony, had 50 dates in the 02 arena etc.

for me musically, i don't like him much i have to say.  i don't like his voice, i hate quite a lot of songs....earth song, feed the world and many more, i hate his eeeee heeeee's!
i do appreciate that millions do and that he has influenced many (and a huge variety) of artists today.  i heard on the radio earlier that someone called him the greatest thing to happen to music in the last 50 years or some other such quote.  for me at least he is no elvis, lennon, mccartney, joe strummer, bob dylan etc but each to their own.

regarding relevance to a reading and leeds board.....there isn't much to talk about on here now really with the lineup almost complete!  he has also influenced a fair few of the acts performing at R&L i would have thought to.  we are all music fans.

sad.....yeah, im no more upset than if anyone else dies though and his life was a circus, maybe now he has a bit of peace and quiet.

Yeah i dont really use any other parts of the forum, and i kindof know most people from the R&L one, so im not gonna talk about it there. I thank you for bringing it up in here! ;)
Also, for the record i put him third, behind elvis and the beatles.

The thing thats playing on my is the fact that when he was on trial accused of 'fiddling children' he was public enemy number 1 except a few die hards. And to be honest he was guilty what man or women for that matter sleeps with young boys?

Pedophilles are he lowest of the low and I wish slow and painful deaths upon all of them, the only probelem with MJ i hat he got off lightly

Wake up people he was talented but he wa sick and pedophiles dont deserv to be class as mentally ill.

he was found not guilty, so be careful what you say. Paedophiles can be mentally ill as much as any other person - people are not saying he was mentally ill because he was accused of being a paedophile.

He's been diagnosed with skin cancer too - I'd imagine he was under a great deal of stress at the moment, what with his usual state of mind and the upcoming UK tour. It probably all got too much for him.

I'm not really a fan of his music, but it's a sad end to a sad and probably lonely life.
