Does anyone know if we're allowed to bring an axe for chopping wood or will they confiscate it for being dangerous?

I'd like to know if this is allowed too as the firewood is often very big and needs chopping up. I have a mini axe that's about 12 inches long and I'm thinking of taking it.

why not just take a petrol chain saw, much easier for chopping than an axe.

They leave loads of free firewood on the railway track. Just need to get it quickly before it all goes!

No, seriously, they leave lots of free firewood on the railway track. As long as you're there early Wednesday morning you can get some.

I'm assuming you haven't been to Glasto before? I was talking about the old railway track that runs through the site, it's just a long path! It'll probably all have gone by midday, but you could still have a look! Dunno how much it is to buy otherwise, sorry :D

Yes, I'm aware of this.

The problem is that the little bits go first and the stuff that's left is big and needs chopping up.

Yes, we know. Nobody is suggesting chopping trees down.

Yes, but it's still big and needs chopping up.

So, does anybody actually know if you're allowed to bring a little mini axe with you to chop it up?

Where do you buy if from?  In the past I have always brought an axe (no longer available  long story) and gone after the free available along the railway line.   Yes it is true free firewood is provided and there is lots of it use the search facility for photos of the site and you will see huge amounts all over the site.  It just seems to disapear very quickley.

i think a little mini axe could be an offensive weapon in the eyes of the law

bombfrog if you wave the axe about at the gate people may be dissconserted, but if you carefully store your mini axe to avoid such problems teh metal detectors should let you pass.

How about a full size axe? this is all I have!! We've built a 'rocket stove' out of an old oil drum and dog food cans for this year for cook, but it only takes really small bits of wood.
