Does anyone know if you can get anything that would help reflect the sun from your tent!? Would one of the things they put on the windscreen of cars over there maybe help or would it just get nicked!??
Last year we brought a lightweight tarp, some parachute cord + few bungees to tie it to the trees with.
We could sleep off a hangover in the tent all day without being cooked in the sun!!!

A bloke in Thailand sells them on ebay, Search for: travel camping tarp

Got a couple of tarps also for that purpose, also bought a cotton tent, slightly heavier but so much cooler than the usual type of tent

3 years ago there was a hardware shop on the main street which sold cord and large gauze sheets 4M x 4M which did a brilliant job fending off the worst of the sun if you string it up between the trees. It's a bit of a ball ache actually stringing it up but once you do it pays off in spades, so much cooler, so much shadier ! The 4x4 Metre one covered our 5 tents and the space in middle easily.

If the shop is still there it's towards the festival end of the main street, left hand side ( as you look toward the arena ) a bit before the Irish bar but they do seem to be on a semi permanent siesta and are open for an hour or so in the morning and then again in the late afternoon.

Bongos.  Everyone needs bongos.  I know Captain Gravy would appreciate everyone bringing BONGOS.

What are you allowed to take in to the campsite, and what do they take off you? and how strict is it?

For example can we take in gas cannisters for camping stoves etc.?

Thanks

What sort of tent do people use?  Is it best just to use those tiny festival tents?  Can you really fit 2 people & luggage in there?  Will a double airbed fit in one?

for 2 people, luggage and a double air bed you'd probably need a 3 man tent, not those tiny tesco tents! even then, one with a small 2nd compartment for your luggage would be ideal. i like to have some space considering how uncomfortable it's already going to be in the heat! everyone brings different tents, it' personal preference.

considering how dry the surrounding area is, i'm sure anything that can cause a fire isn't allowed at your tent, like barbeques, gas cannisters or camp fires. i think they might have designated areas for it tho, i'm not sure. but it's never a good idea where there's lots of tents, trees and grass around!

I'm not sure about all the campsites but in Bonet/Benicamp there aren't any spaces left by Tuesday morning. Don't think the others are quite as bad though

So is there just the 2 official campsites, Benicamp (Bonet) and CampFIB?? Or are these just the 2 most popular??

Irish bar? Is it a proper one, or one of those fake Irish bars?
Asking as Tyrone are in the Ulster Championship final on the Sunday and wondering what the chances of this bar showing the match would be.

Ah balls.
I'm still going to take a walk down a few days beforehand and ask. You never know. But I highly doubt it.

there used to be 3 official ones but there's only 2 this year, and last year. there are other campsites in bencassim but you might need to reserve a pitch

My main qualm is that i have to bring a big suitcase because we're heading on to Barca afterwards...but will it be really annoying having to lug it around? Am I better bringing a rucksack and shoving a few things into it from the suitcase when i get there, and leaving the suitcase with the rest of my stuff in it in storage? Wish i could travel light...alas......

Second problem is a little setback of only being 17. As you have to givve proof of age with the ticket (or so it says)  I looked at the whole entry thing in Spanish and it basically said foreginers have to have signed official documents and all..but who will actually care?

PS: doubt there's any change of you catching the ulster champs unfortunately!

I hadn't thought there was any chance of seeing the Ulster final at all, but the 'Irish' bar gave me a glimmer of hope.
On the plus side, in 2005 I was in Rhodes and missed the match between Tyone and Down before Tyrone went on to win the All-Ireland. Hopefully same happens again, but replace Down with Antrim

Hey this is a great idea for a first timer to beni like me - we were wondering if its worth bringing a camping stove? read what was said above about it bein unlikely to get in as the organisers will worry about fires, if this is so shall we leave it at home? just thought it could save money on food if we could take some pasta and make our own things - how expensive is food and drinks at the camps? VERY excited!! xxx

Also - if we were to take the camping stove i dont think we can take the gas canisters on the plane with us - does anyone know if we could buy camping gas near the campsite? thank you! xxx
