Hmm, to sit or not to sit?

I'm currently having a dilemma. At my first Glasto in 07 my folding chair was invaluable, kept my bottom dry(ish) and relatively mud free throughout the weekend while allowing me to take a load off and sip my pear cider in comfort. However last year I got so annoyed with lugging it around that I gave up and sat on the nice dry ground instead.
So this year should I trust the weather forecast and leave it behind? (we are short on space in the car), or take it and get grumpy at having to lug yet another useless item from the car to the tent and back again? I'd really rather not take it but don't want to regret it if we get a downpour and the ground's not dry enough! What do you think?

Consider the difference in cost between buying it and lugging it and buying it there if you feel like it, that is the equation for everything I take (including clothes). I'm taking basically nothing, if I need it when I'm there I'll fork out, but I reckon I can live without most stuff

Hmm, i took one to a festival for the first time ever last year and i must say it was definately worth the effort.
Im only taking one this year if i can find one dirt cheap as they always end up getting destroyed.

Take it ... I've strapped mine to the tent so it isn't like I'm carrying extra stuff.
But to be honest, we had a few chairs last year, but never took them off around the site. Just used to sit on them at the tent. Made all the difference.
Peace x

Hmm, I already have it, so no cost to take it with me (and it only cost me a fiver in Aldi) so would begrudge forking out for another if I do need one there. Any idea how much they cost on site? (Am on a budget this year!)

I've had the same quandry.
In the end I've decided to take it but leave it in the car - its so heavy to carry with all my other stuff.
In the unlikely event that the weather is horrid I figured can always retrieve it

if there is going to be rain then you should take it - nothing worse that lots of mud and nowhere to sit

Yes, I think I'm coming round to that idea, it is nice to sit with the morning cuppa and watch the site wake up.....

Definatly for the camp site, I use it as a place to chill so it's useful there. Never lugged them around the arena can only imagine that being a pain in the arse

I bought a mega cheap 3 legged stool thing from B&M the other day for £1.74 I think it was. I am half expecting it to break but plan to have it just *IF* the ground is wet!

I'm taking this stool with me this year, I had a chair i bought at the services on the way down in 07 and nothing last year, this should do me fine for the odd occasion i wan to sit down. it fits in my little rucksack that i am carrying round with me during the day and only cost £1

No offence to any of you but I really dont see the point of lugging a chair around. Its Glastonbury, who cares if the benches are a bit wet! If its raining you're gonna be wet anyway. Its too much pointless effort in my eyes.

i have a chair for the tent area in the mornings and to be honest the rest of the time I stand and walk and have 5 minute sit down battery charges every couple of hours oh except on the saturday last year when I sat at the pyramid stage and didnt move all afternoon, think that was due to 3 days of not being sober beforehand.......... no additional supplements required other than total happiness at being in the best place in the world at that moment in time keeps me going!

I thought I recognised some of these items I got from Poundland recently ie Snackie Bars, Wet Wipes and Glowsticks !
Bargain !
Just got to do actual packing now ... (wait 'til tommorrow methinks
)
Will bring my fold up chair too - a bit of a pain to carry but useful when I'm there.

I will need to sit at some point, its my age i'm afraid. But i won't sit near the stages like some of the morons do,i fell over some bloody woman last year who pushed her way to near the front while i was watching Leorard Cohen, and plonked her chair behind me...stupid cow

I love taking a chair. Sit up on the hill above the pyramid and relax and watch the world go by with a box of wine. Fold it up and carry it over your shoulder when you want to go walkabout. Then sit somewhere else and watch the world go by.....
For some of the time I really enjoy slowing to a standstill, sitting and chilling.
