Phone up the 24 hour lines at unsociable hours, and keep checking the website.
You never know.

They're as likely to sell tickets on the gate as they are to shoot non ticket holders on sight.
And that isn't tongue in cheek.

They never announced it in previous years, but they were sold from the box office on site. This year there will be no box office on site, so seems unlikely they will be selling tickets, especially as they have catagorically said they will NOT be selling tickets on the gate this year.

EVERY year they say they're sold out, EVERY year they say there will be no more tickets for sale, and EVERY year they end up releasing more batches and selling some on the gate. but they have said there will be no box office on site at all this year. whether you believe them or not is up to you.
you could also try ebay a bit nearer the time, sometimes the touts (scum) will lower their prices to get rid of tickets they have left.

yea as said above, im not sure about the tickets on site
hopefully be another wave of tickets
failing that - you can pick one up off a tout on the day, and the later it gets i.e. near end of the thurs, no bands start till friday, the touts drop prices here too, in order to get rid of them..rather than having what becomes useless pieces of paper

well I bought my ticket at leeds onsite box office 1st thing friday morning last year
to OP tickets ALWAYS come back on sale sold out does not mean that, as pile of b*****ks!!! just keep checking all the main sites and folk will post links on here if anywone sees anything
They have said no box office this year however I don't think this is set in stone as buying at the gate has been very popular in previous years therefore I doubt the festival will pass up on more money opportunities myself...

Yep always the same last year tickets were going for up to £500 on ebay due to being "sold out" yet they were still selling tickets at the gate at Leeds Friday morning bah!!

They have done, and there might be another one.EVERY year they end up releasing more batches

Wrong. Every year up until now the offical line has beenEVERY year they say there will be no more tickets for sale, and EVERY year they end up selling some on the gate.
"The festival is sold out. Do not buy from unauthorised sources, the tickets may be fake or not arrive and we will not refund your money. The conditions of our licence dictate that we can't reveal whether there will be any tickets on the gate. That said, you'd be pretty foolish to turn up to a sold out event without a valid ticket now, wouldn't you?"

That is the worst advice I've ever read on here. To put it in context, I have advised someone to f**k off and die in the past, and I maintain it was better advice than this.failing that - you can pick one up off a tout on the day, and the later it gets i.e. near end of the thurs, no bands start till friday, the touts drop prices here too, in order to get rid of them..rather than having what becomes useless pieces of paper
Did you go last year? No touts had any tickets, they were all trying to buy. This year, in the absence of a box office, they'll shift even quicker and in the unlikely event that you find one, it will be even dearer than eByeBye.

There are far easier ways to redistribute your money while receiving nothing in return. Throwing it out of a car, for example.you could also try ebay a bit nearer the time, sometimes the touts (scum) will lower their prices to get rid of tickets they have left.

I'm an engineer. If you've found a way to completely hide a building situated just off a public road and or near a river, I would very much like to speak to you.
Seriously though, the amount they've made from ViaToutTout more than makes up for the money they would normally have taken from the box office, not to mention saving on the staff, security and police costs, and potentially being liable for any trouble the queues might have caused.

Tjhe reason Reading is no longer selling ticvkets onsite is because of the massive queues over the past few years. If you search the council website for Reading Festival, then you will find various documents relating to this decision and the reasons behind it.
There will be no tickets on the gate this year at Reading.
