Offspring and Foo Fighters have also played in the past.

Another thing is that since Download was resurrected from the ashes of Monsters of Rock most heavy bands get booked for that and don't bother with any other festival aside from the odd one or two that play Reading...hence one of the reasons that Reading Festival which was mainly rock up until the end of the 90's has gone more mainstream and R1/NME based since the turn of the millennium.

Neil said Foo Fighters were contacted this year about headlining one of the days, but they are taking soime time off at the moment. Even then Eavis apparently had concerns about them being too heavy compared to a traditional Glastonbury headliner. With that and Jay-Z headlining last year though, I recon theres a fair chance of seeing a few bigger heavier actws creeping back onto the lineup in the next few years, although I would never expect to see thye likes of Slipknott there

BTW. I saw someone do a brilliant version of "Tribute" on an open mic stage a couple of years back. Just one guy, played the guitar, did all the voices - brilliant!

Slipknot. Now they would be a worthy headliner. Can someone start a petition for next year?

I think Neil mentioned on here that Eavis was considering Foo's for next year but was unsure whether they'd be suitable - that would be good me thinks, Everlong blasting out etc etc...

Tenacious D woulda been a giggle on other stage, or Foo Fighters pyramid, what a dream chaps.
I think brand new, enter shikari and f**ked up are the bands to see this year if you like heavy also Twisted wheel kinda sound olschool punky sorta with indie feel. I believe there should be a punk/metal stage at glasto, just a small stage the size of the park or lock up for those of whom go to reading for punk/rock/metal bands to come and rock up would be a nice little addition.
