Hope its Metallica or Motorhead - not Mud (the band) or mud the substance!

Toilet Duck, on Jun 17 2009, 05:55 PM, said:I think the band beginning with M is a recent embellishment to this rumour. As I recall Kerrang suggested it was one fo the biggest bands in the world, but offered no further info. However, they themselves may well have fallen for the rumours that were circulating at the time (not beyond the realms of possibility, I'd certainly believe they could fall for it if it was the NME!)...
Anyway...I asked a member of Muse's crew whether they were playing (I said there were mumblings on the efests board that they were)...the reply I got suggested that they weren't (but he did update his facebook to say "man, I hate it when I find out what I'm doing next from some website!", but this could be a reference to the gig they are playing on Friday the 26th rather than the enquiry about Glasto)...make of that what you will. On the otherhand, a confirmation from a member of Klaxons suggests that they are the Saturday suprise guests on the park stage (with Hot Rats and A.N.Other there on Friday)..if I had to guess, I'd say the Saturday slot is Klaxons, but you never know!
Ok thanks for answering, Kerrang did an article then? And the 'm' thing was just made up as the rumour grew? I can't see muse playing acoustic and they use too many effects to practically play the park stage so it's not even a case of the light show for me. Given the size of klaxons and hot rats i'd imagine marmaduke duke was the most realistic 'm' band if such a hint was ever given? I'm going to turn up anyway just to see.

I saw Muse do an acoustic set at Tower Records in Birmingham in about 1999. I had a fag outside with the bass player, they were nice boys. Stadium superstars - whoda thunk it?
They'd be great acoustic on the Park, but who knows. Is it the Friday or the Saturday Emily Eavis was referring to when she was going on about health and safety?
Ooh, and actually, its MMMM, The Pixies!

kerrang know nothing. if it was muse or metallica then that would be the highlight of the festival for many festival goers. eavis isn't going to want to make his headliners look crap.

The Hot Rats has to one of the most underwhelming special guests ever. These days I don't think Supergrass would cause that much excitement up at the Park, so why someone thought this side project is worthy of special guest status, I don't know.
