finally managed to get to go on the Wednesday so not freaking out about not getting a decent pitch
therefore wondering if anyone could post a pic or two of pennards or park home from last year say wednesday late afternoon/early pm to see what choice there might be??
also which car park might we get in on west side?? its that all important travel distance to consider

Sorry no pics to post but I got to Park Home Ground around 11am on the Weds last year and there was stacks of room. Filled up gradually during the day.
A group arrived at about 1.30am on the Thursday just after we had gone to bed and tried to pitch in between our two tents - we'd left hardly any room!!!! They did have about 5 tents and a gazebo to put up so assume they couldn't (or didn't want to) find enough room elsewhere. From what I have heard, there still would have been plenty of room in Dairy - it was only 15 hours after the gates opened....

No pictures, but it'll be pretty full any time after about five on Wednesday. You'll hopefully be able to find a space though.

Chill Winstaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrn!
The site can easily hold the 175,000 bodlings that are on their way and you will get a pitch anywhere you like on the Wednesday! Ok...so it may not be to the exact grid reference point you were hoping but seriously...dont worry.
If you were asking this for say Friday afternoon then you would have cause for concern but really...there isnt so just turn up and find a good spot like the rest of us!
Pennards will still have good spots...I think last year there even was space on the Friday thanks to the addition of Dairy and Home...so worry ye pretty little head not.

after doing a shitload of research and planning about where is best to camp and which car park to make our way to in 2007 we ended up just plonking our shit down int he nearest available spot as we just could not be arsed to carry everything any damn further.
the simple fact of the matter remains that no matter how hypes certain areas are it makes no difference at the end of the day as you could still end up next to or surrounded by dickheads of many kinds, fortunately i didn't see any such people in 07 and our pitch at the dance village was perfection me and my friends make friends easily and get on with people so it's no big deal as we always make friends with the neighbours and some of these friendships have lasted years now.
all that will there be space malarkey makes no sense to me either as even if there is people are still gonna keep coming in and filling any gaps and eventually cramming it all up especially more so in the so called good areas.
i really don't go in for all that nonsensical elitist "this place is better than that place" bullshit i got caught up in it once and am so glad i saw sense and saw it for what it really is.
just get in set up and crack open the beers and getting partying with your new found neighbours

We always arrive on the Weds AM and usually camp on Pennard Hill. Got no pics as it never occurs to me to take any till later, but there is usually space to be found all day Wednesday.

The most popular areas are usually half/three quarters full by about 2pm on Wednesday but there'll still be space to set up there for most of the day

nice feedback guys/gals
got many years of 'thanks for pitching my tent' favours to repay this time so with 5 of the buggrs to stick up asap before our cheese and wine reception [check cheese thread!] am hoping there will be an above average size plot available
experience tells me there will be invaders but careful picthing and use of luminous guy ropes should work

What about Dragons Field?
I've heard that fills up quite fast...
Is it worth getting there early to camp there?

I think it's a myth that you can actually camp in the Dragons Field. No matter how early I've arrived on site it's been jammed full. I think those guys live there all year round.

I've heard about people who just have festivals get built around them!

I think the Dragon field fills up really quickly. Unless you get there first thing Weds morning I wouldn't even bother trying, particularly if you are in a large group.

We got there at about lunchtime on the Wednesday and had no problems finding a spot. We took a walk round after we had set up and from what i could see there was still heaps of empty space around the site.
I really shouldnt worry too much about it.

There was still plenty of space just about everywhere in Pennards at that time unless you were in a big group.

The bottom end of the Big Ground and Kidney Mead were filling up nicely by lunchtime on Wednesday - no room for massive groups but plenty of smaller spaces.

This is a weight off my mind, I'm gonna get there around 1:45 and really wanna end up in Pennards. Thanks.

It seems to me that it's been getting increasingly popular to arrive on the Wednesday, even so far as saying that it's now the 'norm'. That said there will always be space. So long as people leave the gazebos at home.
