Hi

Im taking a friend of mine to Glasto for the first time...however he has just found out he is being deployed with the military at short notice and being picked up from worcester at 4.00 am on monday after glasto - apart from the obvious culture shock he is going to get...eeek.... what are your experiences of leaving right after the final band - how long are the queues out the car parks, and how are the roads...all experiences and tips gratefully recieved

thanks

Hiya,

I left after the who in 2007 - literally, packed the car at lunch time and then left straight after Who finished....we took about an hour half - 2 hours to get out.....not too bad. we were moving the whole time but we were one of the first in and seemed to be the furthest away from the way out!!

We got back to Liverpool at 6.30 am.

Only left once straight after sunday Pyramid and took about an hour 30mins back to car plus another hour queue. My advice would be to leave about 3/4hrs into Blur if you want a quicker exit for your mates 4.00am start.

we left on sunday last year and it was slow moving but probably took us less than an hour to get off site, and once you were off there were none of the queues outside the site you get on the monday.

My brother left last year straight after the Verve as he had to be in work in Leeds at 9am on Monday morning.

I think he got distracted somewhere along the way to exit as he didnt arrive in work until about midday on the Monday...even worse he was still in full Glasto unwashed kit  ;)  needless to say his employers were not impressed and he got an official warning.

I left my campsite at about 10am on the Monday morning, hoping to get back to Liverpool in time for my friend to catch a 9pm flight back to Ireland. We ended up taking an extra journey to the car parks to help out a sick friend, then got separated and lost the car  :P then got caught in traffic. My friend missed her flight and had to pay another £70 to return the next morning, and take an extra day off work.

My advice...leave at least three hours before you think you will need to, to take account of all eventualities...Glasto time runs on a slower timesphere to the real world/

Only time I have not left on the Sunday night, I got trapped in the carpark for 8 hours. Never making that mistake again. Short straw for whoever is driving that day but tbh I always prefer to skip out whilst the party is in full flow rather than watch the dying embers. Have always got out pretty quickly on the Sunday night.

Left on the Sunday night after the last headliner in 2005 and was off site within ten minutes once we got back to the car.

Dunno what's changed since then but there were no queues at all that year.

Was the big transformer and the Hulk not blocking the way in 2005???
Note to self - do not visit stone circle 3 hrs before planning on leaving the site.....

Really does depend where you're parked I think. If you get in early doors Weds and and you're miles from the entrance. Be preapred for a queue.
As for the guy who's hooking up with his regiment the next day: Go easy on the lash on Saturday onwards as you'll get a rocket the state he'll likely be in if he hammers it!!!

So am we right in thinking if i left just before Blur came on it would be a quick exit.Nothing we would really want to see on any of the other stages, so we would proberbly go after seeing either Nick cave or Roger McGuinn. :D

If you wait till about 1 - 2am, you'll be out pronto and on the M5 and in Worcester really quickly.

Every year I have been I have left after the final act. I pack all my stuff up as soon as I get up and take it to the car and then just have a small backpack for the rest of the day.

Last year I made it off the site within 10 mins and was home within the hour!!!

I remember getting home still buzzing and watching the highlights on Sky plus... still pissed!! (No I didnt drive that year)

Well worth it :D
