So yeah you've probably heard the rumours but Cedric had confirmed to DiS that they have been in talks over a reformation. This is truly AMAZING news.. so who reckons we could see them next year? Perhaps NME headliner (Faith No More style..)
NME say:
Defunct El Paso band At The Drive-In have been in talks to reform, according to their former singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala.
The band split in 2001, with Bixler-Zavala subsequently forming prog-rock band The Mars Volta with fellow At The Drive-In guitarist Omar Rodríguez-López.
Now the singer has said that he has been in discussions with the band's former members, and has suggested that they could get back together after they sort their financial business out.
"We've been making amends with a lot of the members and having some really good talks with them," he told Drowned In Sound. "We've been trying to get our financial business in order because a lot of people have been ripping off that band really badly."
He added: "I wouldn't mind it [a reformation]. It might happen, we just have to iron out a lot of personal things. A lot of it we've dealt with already and I've apologised for a lot of things I've said and the way it ended... we'll see what happens."
At The Drive-In were acclaimed for their 2000 album 'Relationship Of Command'.

everyone says that but he has even said that he was taken out of context.
He's not into hardcore dancing IE windmilling and throwing other people about which is understandable. I intend to catch them where ever the play as i was only 13 when they split up and I'll be jumping up and down like a mad man.

There is no way on earth they would headline the NME stage but if they do reform I could see them playing.

Yesss, this would be niceee
At The Drive-In make me think of when i was 15/16, so if they played next year and I'm at Reading, i would really like to see them.
Pattern Against User and One Armed Scissor ftw

I've been to two mars volta gigs theyy were amazing and they're one of my fabourite bands. Only two days ago i was listening to ATDI at work and was thinking god it would be ace to see the live, although i had come to terms that this would never happen. This news today has really made my day and is consequently gonna cost me a lot of money in beeer money that i wasn't planning on spending tonight. I f i've got through this without making a spelling mistake then i am jesus.

I think im the only person who preferred sparta to mars volta. I love the 3 sparta albums and found mars volta a bit pretentious but each to their own i guess. I agree at the drive in headlining a tent would be amazing.

I'm pretty sure they're big enough...
I don't know, I haven't heard anyone talking about them in ages, not that they were huge at the time (and not that I am old enough to have paid any attention
) I don't think they would be a massive draw, in fact I doubt the majority have heard of them.

They would be huge if they reformed, they were are on the edge of really making it big first time around and were getting a big push from nme and we all know that counts nowadays.
if they did reform I reckon they would play very high up on the main stage.
how many of an average reading/leeds customer listened to ratm?

oh no.please dont start rumours like this.ive already decided that this is going to be my last reading but i can see that a lot of juicy rumours will start and i'll be tempted to get a ticket only to find that, like weezer, offspring,JA,etc this year, the rumours will come to nothing and i'll be at reading watching only a handfull of bands again.from now on,only rumours avout shite indie bands allowed,ha ha.

I would say most had heart of RATM, Almost all will have been familiar with at least one song. I personaly really don't think they could headline NME, they just wouldn't be a big enough draw.

Gossip?
Come on.. they struggle to sell out academy sized gigs.
If(and when
) ATDI reform they will be very sought after. At the risk of being lambasted, 'hardcore' music became very popular just before their demise and they're seen like gods amongst that crowd.
Failing that then perhaps Lock-Up!?

Gossip will be more popular by August with their new album and stuff, plus they have the backing of a massive label who are clearly prepered to put money behnind them. I have no doubt ATDI have a dedicated following, I just doubt that at this festival in particular they would be enough of a draw to the audience, or whether the bookers would be intrsted in getting them to headline NME.

I bought one of their t-shirts during their set, and that was the first time I had ever heard them (you couldn't get in the tent, and the merch stall was right next to the tent).was any one there a fair few years ago when at the drive in played the carling stage?
Of all the minutes that were taken away, will your watch be waiting...
As long as they get back together to make new music rather than just to tour on the back of their slightly undeserved reputation, that'd be dandy.
