he imlpied  99 per cent of people who say they cant find a job are liars - on a thread where lots of unemployed people were writing, thats just sadistic! Mr Bombfrog does happen to make a habit of this, ignoring the Glasto spirit

Nice one remote - that's fantastic news! So glad to hear some good news about jobs at the moment, & hopefully something to turn around the unpleasantness that seems to have unwittingly developed on this thread.

Like bombfrog I too was slightly enraged by an earlier post & can completely understand where he is coming from, but am also in the position of being redundant at the moment & have found some of the things on here quite disheartening. I am a qualified professional & am quite prepared to go & work at the local co-op, but am not even being considered as am over-qualified. Similarly, every professional job has 50+ applications each day & cannot even get a look in. I think a lot of people here are trying to sort themselves out & this has been acknowledged, but there are ways & means of empathetically getting your point across so as not to cause resentment.

Hopefully by the time we all get to Pilton, everyone will have been able to draw a line under this & take the time to enjoy themselves for a few days in the true spirit of Glastonbury :D

Actually, I posted because a certain person at the start of this thread said something which pissed me off.

Just because somebody has a different viewpoint to you, doesn't mean they must be being deliberately antagonistic.

The issue isn't your opinion on the different types of job seekers. What I think has irked most people (in a thread specifically for people who are already having a bit of rough time) is the insulting way you called 99% of us liars just for being unemployed; and there has not even been a hint of a retraction.

Job seekers allowance is to help you seek a job. Travel expenses to intereviews etc. Thats what i was told at jobcenter plus. Not once since i lost my job have i used my JSA to have any kind of fun with or seek a job. Mine stays in the bank and goes towards paying bills etc .I fund all my job seeking with my savings and redundancy. I also fund my Glasto trip with the same. Because of the scroungers who do abuse the system i cant claim anything other than JSA the restrictions on what i can claim are unreal. I do not abuse the system and will never be able to. I'm 43 yrs old left school at 16 so have been able to work for 27 years. Out of that time i've been unemployed for 11months including my current stint claiming JSA. I have a large mortgage, a 6 yr old son and all the bills etc that everyone else has. JSA does not cover this. It is NOT kept at level at which you can live on. It is at level at which the government thinks you need to post letters make phone calls, travel to interviews etc. If you can fill numerous criteria you can claim for your bills, mortgage etc but only if you can fill some very strict criteria.

I'm beginning to regret putting this thread up. It seems to have opened up a can of worms. I'm not having a go here just trying to make the doubters see how it is. For me life isn't to good at the moment and Glasto is the only thing that keeps me going i need it so much just to get away from worrying if i'll still have a roof over my head in 6 months, if i can buy my son new clothes and a present for his birthday. So to all who doubt the unemployeds integrity Give us a break for a few days and lets enjoy the fest together.

To those of you that will say '' shouldn't you be spending your money on your son and mortgage rather than going to Glasto'' . I say this i need Glasto to keep my sanity and help me see that life isn't as bad as it seems sometimes. My son will get his clothes and present and i will pay for it with my money that i saved and worked hard for. So to all you taxpayers who want to know where your money goes it doesnt fund my leisure activities. I do.

I'm afraid first sign on can take up to a week I think, then about 3 days after that.  Hope you can manage B)

I cant rember how long it is after first date but its 3 working days normaly. So if your signing day is a monday or tuesday you get it that week, if its a wed, thurs or fri you get it the next week.

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news and I hope this is just me being unlucky, but I signed on twice before I received anything. They said it was taking a lot longer to process the forms due to the amount of people signing on, they thought everything would be ok by saying "but we'll backdate your money". Not much help when you need it there and then though.

Hope yours gets sorted quicker!

You are entitled to apply for a crisis loan while you are waiting for your first payment.
