LadyLuck77
Hey I'm seriously considering buying a ticket from Big Green Coach and going to V Fest on my own this year - though I've never ever been to a festival on my own before. Is it a good idea? I'm 23, female and although some of my friends would want to go I don't think they have the funds or money. Also, some of my mates are going to Download so indie isn't their style really. I just want the summer 2009 festival experience! But do you think paying £212 for the tix, camping and the coach a rip-off? Or is it a good deal? I really wanted to go to T in the Park this year when I saw the line-up but it was clearly already sold out. Then my cuz and friends decided to go to Rock Werchter, Belgium so I booked time off work but the day I go to buy tickets they sell out! So I went on the waiting list but I can't be bothered waiting and the V fest line up looks good times. (I especially want to see Oasis The Killers, Keane, Razorlight, Biffy Clyro, Snow Patrol, Elbow, Lily Allen, The Script, Fatboy Slim, Pendulum, The Ting Tings, Dizzee Rascal, The Noisettes, Jet (Ok so I don't love them but Melbourne represent!), 2 Many DJs, James Morrison, The Enemy, Paolo Nutini, Katy Perry, Athlete, The Proclaimers, The King Blues, MGMT, Lady Gaga, The Streets...so most of them actually.) Who do you really want to see? Anyways, I read on here that BGC don't actually allocate the yellow campsite (even though this is stated on the site when you buy your tix). Is this true? If you camp on your own, do you bring your own one-man tent? Has anyone (namely females) gone to a music festival on their own before? I've travelled around Europe on own. Is it the same as staying in a hostel? I just don't want it to be unsafe. But don't want to buy tix just because a friend doesn't want to go, either and I don't want to miss out by the time they think about it. To go solo or not to go solo that is the question... Thoughts?xx

staffsknot
You'll be fine going on your own - look out for the E-Festival camp as its full of like minded music lovers who all camp together and is made up of small groups and individuals. There are some people who organise it on here and I'm sure you'll be more than welcome.
LadyLuck77
Cheers for the reply. Are you going to camp with the Efesters, too? I'll post on one of the efest camping threads and introduce myself. I'm still not sure but If I can't get friends to come then I might just go on my own as there are lots of people on here thinking of doing the same thing. When people go on their own do they usually bring their own lil tent? How does Hylands atmosphere compare to Weston? Are they both friendly? Also, £212 for BGC. Does that sound good or would it be more cost effective to buy from See Tickets then get a coach or train? Has anyone else here booked that bus to V Fest yet? staffsknot
I'm doing Weston and although I won't be camping with the Efest group I will be dropping in on them. Mate did Hylands one year and reckons Weston is better layout but similar atmosphere. If you are going on your own get a small 2 man tent (1 person plus kit really) as you have to put it up and take it down and all that extra space is a waste. Do yourself a favour and get a pop-up tent ;-)

Alexx (:
Firstly, well done. Derby's ace. Secondly, I think 2 of my mates (Animaal on here + one other) anre getting the coach from Derby too if you want someone to look for/talk to on the way down.
