im thinking of going this year to gg, but looking at the tickets it says vip has access to golden circle. can you only go into the golden circle with vip?

Only VIP ticketholders can access the 'golden circle', although it's nothing special to be honest, I seem the remember last year it only covered half of the area in front of the main stage, so regular ticketholders could also get up front. It's literally just a metal barrier that pens off a bit of the space in front of the main stage.
