Finally got told today that i can have V weekend off! Managed to get early bird tickets however long ago then looked at the holiday request book at work only to see numerous other staff requesting that weekend off and 'no more off' scrawled across tha page, so i asked the managed who asked the owner, made a good argument about how my holidays should be a priority cos i'm a full timer and the weekend staff should wait their turn, and about how we're pretty much dead in the middle of summer anyway. So i did a lot of sucking up, waited, did more odd jobs, got good feedback, covered peoples shifts on my days off and more sucking up, waited some more then finally today i get it confirmed that i can have that weekend off! Yay! Just thought i'd share this with everyone!

i dont know where you work but just because your a full timer doesnt mean you should get priority over what hols weekenders get.maybe you should put your hols in first next year in that case. im a weekender and just because we chose to go into education and hold down a job for extra money doesnt mean we should get penalized for it.

I work in education so i have no option as far as time off re: festivals. Can't get the entire time i need for glasto, so i don't bother. The only fests i can defo go to is v and reading as they fall in summer hols. But i'm not complaining about the time off i do get, but there's not much room for negotiation for taking time outside termtime, so it can be a bugger. I'm happy for u that u now have your weekend for defo though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
