I do it every year.

Last year we left Merseyside at 3am Wednesday morning / Tuesday night. Got on site and set up then tried to have a bit of a nap but failed as I struggle to sleep during the day. Got pissed, then thought it was a good idea to delve into my magic bag of tricks, (which ended up in taking 2 and a half really strong pills and about 8 lines of coke), before I knew it it was 5 O'Clock in the morning and decided it was now in my best interests to get some sleep, (I hadn't had any sleep since I woke up on Tuesday morning and it was now Thursday morning), surprise surprise - failed. Sat around all day Thursday feeling drastically sorry for myself and around 4 O'Clock decided to open a beer. I ended up in the middle of Shangri la at 4 in the morning wearing a rainbow coloured wig and a clowns red nose, (still can't remember where they came from). I got back to the tent about half 5 (after I think another 2 possibly 3 pills)  tried to get some sleep and again couldn't catch a wink. I felt absolutely disgusting, after several cups of coffee a cheeky line of coke and a bacon butty I went to see Wu-Tang Clan and B.B King on The Pyramid before heading up to the Park to catch Radiohead. After Radiohead finished I went down to the John Peel tent to see DJ Shadow's set and half way through his set I literally fell asleep on my feet, (thankfully I came to before falling flat on my arse). So decided enough was enough and it was bed time, I got back to my tent half an hour later, (about half 11ish) and passed out before my little head even hit my pillow. Woke up at 1 in the afternoon the day after feeling rejuvenated and ready to carry on and go for gold.

Would I have changed any of what I did?

Would I bollocks.
We left Stoke like 9/10pm Tuesday? I think it was Tuesday the carpark opened - first make a quick stop to Tesco pickup another crate of strongbow..10quid for 20..half way there realise we left the crate we'd been keeping chilled for drinking that night in the f****** fridge at home..so 1 crate down! bollocks!

We're already running late, about an hour behind the other people we're meeting who we're meant to meet at some service station..caning it down the motorway, we endup literally 5cars away from them in the carpark!

Get there, few beers etc, slowly but surely everyone dissapears and goes to get some sleep..some 11pm, some midnight, and then 2 guys stayed till 2am..well f***..I work nights and I was working Monday, got home like 7am Tuesday off Tuesday when we drove down..so of course I'm not tired..so I spent most the night wondering round the car park drinking on my own until people got up..of course I was pretty pissed by then lol

As to falling asleep on your feet..I desperately wanted to see the chems no matter what , so I went there, stood to the backish was feeling ropey and tired, considered leaving and getting a few minutes sleep - as if thatd work id either not sleep or sleep for 20+hrs!! anyway ended up just having to stick it out..keep drinking, few other things, some red bull etc and then head over to shangri-la for orbital! where i met some guy in the queue to Shangri-La 'can you hold the bag of MDMA so i can get some out' haaa - spent the night with him and his mates , ending up at the stone circle till midday

We always travel down by minibus because the people in our group that drive (I don't) never fancy the 6 hour drive back up to the north west after 5 days of chaos. So we've never went down the night before to get close to the gates. The worst thing with travelling down by minibus is that you have to carry everything in one trip and every year someone always ditches something that they can't carry. I had a stroke of genius last year though, I knew a friend who drove but he was only going with his girlfriend so obviously I wasn't going to tag along with them but he let me throw most my booze in his car so I didn't have to carry it. A little trip to his car on the Wednesday afternoon and my tent was fully stocked.

We went to see the Chems after Pulp, I wanted to get as close as possible so we could take in their amazing light show. Another little ingredient of my magical lucky bag was a few grams of magic mushrooms, ate them about half an hour before they were due on and I can tell you that their set is one of the best experiences I've ever had, I felt completely absorbed by their light show. After that we went to the Stone Circle, it took us about 2 hours to get there after stopping at every stupid little thing and explaining how it all had it's own little "heartbeat" and that the festival itself actually has its own heartbeat and identity. Got to the Stone Circle and had such a laugh with everyone that we spoke to got back to the tent about half 4ish and carried on laughing our bollocks off for another half an hour then slowly floated back to earth, curled up in my sleeping bag and drifted off to sleep. One of the best nights I've ever had at a festival loved every single second of it and what a contrast to how I was feeling only 24 hours earlier struggling to get through that Friday.

this thread has given me and my other half 3 hours of entertainment and soo many memories brought back, thankyou!! we've been to 5 glastos together and this thread is complete GOLD.

The 'bonkers' video in particular broght back a memory we hadnt talked about for a while. That evening me and OH were in the dance village eating our dinner (fish n chips) and some lad ran past, leggin' it to see munford and sons, his wallet fell out his pocket about 12 ft away from me, so i pick it up, give it to OH who swiftly runs after him to give it back....
he eventually catches up to him, gives it back, he's gratful but goes on with his buisness...

10 minutes later the lad comes back to were me and my OH are eating, and starts kicking off!! BIG TIME!!, apperantly there were some drugs in his wallet that are no longer there and we must have them cos we found his wallet.! were very polite and and we hadnt even opended the wallet! but he's really blue in the face...he's only young about 19, he was worse for were but also very aggressive and wanted to fight! we tried to help him look for his missing stuff but he wasnt interested, he completly believed we stole from him. :(
after 20 mins, and other people getting involved he left.

My OH said to me....'soo there obviously a bag of goodies somwere around here?'
within 5 minutes he found them.. about 50 ft infront of us.

we really did then enjoy that dizzeie'  'bonkers' set, and dont feel bad about it at all ;)

Well, if we're posting full clips, it's gotta be this:

Probably not a feel good clip if you were watching England getting drubbed at the time mind.

I will always regret this choice of watching England!! I could hear it faintly in the background :(
