i think its going to rain, there about a 90 % chance it will.

I actually read an article earlier this year that stated that "the Gulf Stream was revving itself up" which would mean a warm and sunny summer!  I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

You could probably find estimates for every single possible outcome this far in advance.

We had so many forecasts last year!

This won't stop this thread passing 200+ pages though.  Possibly with plenty of expletives thrown in.

Unacceptable.

The only regulation in temperature should be down to excretion of sweat after too much alcohol intake.

But we need the cooler nights so we can appreciate the sweltering days that we'll get

Why do you sweat after drinking to much alcohol? Is it cos you're dancing like a loon?

You'll appreciate the sweltering days when you get home and spend the next fortnight in an ice bath.

As for the sweating - yes - excessive dancing and basically being over-zealous and stupid.

Welcome back the Weather thread!

Well at least with me not going this year, the rollercoaster of emotions that is this thread shall not effect my sleep quite so much. Here's hoping you have good weather (not to good though, that's being saved for 2010   )

From the ones I've been to:

2000 - mostly dry, a bit of rain on the Thursday
2004 - Thursday HOT.  Friday HOT.  Saturday & Sunday WET.
2005 - Thursday HOT.  Then a Biblical flood.  Friday to Sunday sunny but mostly soaking underfoot.
2007 - Shite.  Wet.  Muddy.  And it just got worse.  Yuck.
2008 - Mostly fine, except some rain on Thursday night through until Friday afternoon.  Otherwise okay.

You're due wall-to-wall sunshine.

2007 was AWFUL! OMG...by the sunday night I was soooo Miserable I vowed never to do it again. (So I didn't...then I got a ticket for '09)

YES its official, I have the breaking strain of a Kit Kat and the will power of a dead Gnat!

2005 - that week running up was amazing, we were in Wells on the Tuesday, then Glasto wednesday onwards and everyone was sunburnt! Then there was that massive storm, the bottom of Pennards floated away, the Pyramid stage got struck by Lightening, it rained non stop for about 7 hours then it was sunny / warm again! The mud and flooding was bad but generally the weather was fine. I can cope with the mud just not the pissin incessant rain like in '07.

Concur with this absolutely.  Extended periods of lightness starting in the morning interspersed with spells of darkness characterised by a lack of daylight, most likely to occur after sunset.

Never catch me doing anything like that

(I do like an ice bath though!)

Agree with this.

There was just no let up at all in 2007, and it became slippery in some places and sticky in others.  I remember the park being awful.  I remember watching Willy Mason on the Sunday afternoon at the Park, and just feeling really down and dying to get home.  That is not like me - and it wasn't because Willy wasn't great (I can't believe I wrote that - but you know what I mean) - the mud just really got to me that day.

2008 was okay.  Not quite warm enough on the Saturday/Sunday for my liking, and obviously the rain on the Thursday/Friday was quite unforgivable, but at least the MAJORITY of the festival was okay.

I just want it 100% dry and sunny! I want a tan as this will probably be my summer holiday, and the only festival I do (stupid recession!)

If I had to pick, I could cope with mud but lots of sunshine - not another 2007, ever, don't actually think I could handle that again!!

Same as, 2007 broke me, standing in the pissing rain watching bill bailey (who i normally love) thinking that it was the shittest thing ever, then stuck in the car park for god knows how long i chucked in my glasto towel.

then last year looked great and i sulked the entire last week of June, so i'm heading back again.

anyone who likes the rain is a sicko, you can only get so far on enthusiasm or drugs (or both)

HA HA HA HA!!!!

I don't like the rain, but I can generally make the best of things if it does rain, I can deal with it. 2007 was also cold though, and it was like being on a stairmaster for 5 days, it's the combination I struggle with, one shit weather thing or another, not loads of them conspiring against me!

Trying to use the long drops, after Qing for ages in the morning, and then it pisses down when it's your turn - that's quite upsetting. No one likes a wet arse!!

My first post of the year (I think). Surprise surprise! Its in a weather thread. Now some may find this all a little odd but I really do get a complete fixation to the weather thread leading up to glasto. Its probably the only thread I take any part or notice in. Its never always been this way. I am sure people who have been through what we went through before last years near blinder would agree how unbeleivably important it is to have a spot of nice weather.

Anywho! I do this, completely lose the my train of thought... Oh yeah.

Get to the point I shall. I think we need a Name for what will be the most important thread of the year. Now I am leaving this up for discussion. Its no dig at the name of this one, don't get me wrong Just thinking something a bit special and up there, out there or somewhere.

I got to sleep, and possibly get out more, yes that's it! get out more (I should make a note of that).

:D ...same here. Been going for years but 2007 really traumatised us (we were on a coach too!!), so we said NEVER again!! Watched last year on tv & vowed to be there next time!! Got my ticket, but hubby is still shock from 2007!!!!  :D  ;)  :P

Roll on June...it will be HOT, HOT, HOT (though don't quote me on that in July)  :D

This was the thread that dominated my attention on this site in 08.  Sad as it is the weather does will effect the majority of peoples enjoyment of the festival (by this I mean if it turns into a mudbath), although a few claim to not care whether it is a scorcher or a hurricane.  I spent a good few months glued to this thread and my day-2-day mood was up and down like a yo-yo depending on forecasts from Metcheck, Netweather etc...

The one thing I learnt was that you can't rely on any of them until about a week to go.  The second thing I have learnt is that despite knowing this knowledge I will be hooked on this thread for months to come cos you can't beat someone coming up with some long-range positivity on it being a sunny 5 days even if it is 3 months in advance!

I look forward to the rollercoaster ahead.

The first Glastonbury I went to was 2007 and the conditions were awful. It was a slog to get about and you couldn't walk or sit down anwhere....but I enjoyed it and realised the place was something special.

I vowed to go back every year since and was rewarded with good weather last year, but I will take whatever weather I get and enjoy myself.....but a really sunny one would be good.
